Runescape going back to 2007?

Runescape announced on their Facebook page that they will be holding a poll to bring Runescape back to way it was in 2007. The game will be separate from the game right now and if it reaches at least 500000 votes, it will be free. Here is the link to the page that has more information about it.

I for one miss the hell out of the original Runescape and the way it was back when I was in 7th and 8th grade (2007) and I'm going to cast my vote to bring the original back :D

I didnt play in 2007, But i did play shortly before EOC. EOC drove me to stop playing. That and I racked up 3 weeks gameplay in 2.5 months.

2007 was when I racked a stupid amount of playing time. It was so much fun logging on and playing with my friends and doing quests and everything. Pretty much everyone I knew back then played.

Ditto. Well, as long as it gets as many votes that it makes it free for everyone. That would suck to have to pay like $15/mo ADDITIONAL just to play classic.

It's probably just another way for them to get more money, I don't think it will get over 500k member votes.

Still sucks. Have to be a member to play the classic unless it hits 750k which blows chunks.

Well that's stupid. Guess I won't be coming back haha. I'm sure they'll get it to the point where you can play old version for free if you have an account, but they won't get it to the point where anyone can play for free cuz...they're paying to play so why should other people who aren't paying get to play? Those dicks lol

Runescape has a huge fan base with a ton of people demanding we go back to the long long ago in the before times. I think we should at least get to 500k where the game will be free. We won't get updates and only slight bug fixes but as long as I can relive my childhood I don't really care lol

500k will get us the game for free if you already have a paid account...750k will get the game free to play for anyone, or at least that's what it looked like to me

This is correct. They way the voting works is

Tier 1: Members only. Pay an additional fee to play RSClassic

Tier 2: Same thing less fee

Tier 3: Members only, but free.

Tier 4: Free for everyone.


And varying levels of support/bug fixing, no content updates though.

I never played back in 2007 but when they came out with new 07 scape i got members right away. i have heard so many good things about it. hope it stays.

yes, the 2007 version is back and i think many runescpae players will return the game.
