So I was perusing the RIOT forums and I came across this (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2962049). A RIOT employee has posted in that thread suggesting that these mods are okay. Naturally I am skeptical. I was incredibly surprised to not see a "You will be banned if you do this" response from the RIOT staff. This led me to try to search the subject further which led me to this (http://leaguecraft.com/skins) large collection of skin mods. I submitted the links to RIOT. I want to see them confirm before I try it. Has to be to good to be true.

Anyone come across anything like this yet?

Got a response from RIOT. Apparently this is legit.

Hello Ziek88,

Thanks for writing in. Please allow me to give you a quick overview of our stance on third party modifications to the League of Legends Client.

The following is an excerpt from our Terms of Use regarding actions that could result in disciplinary measures:

J. Using any unauthorized third party programs, including but not limited to "mods," "hacks," "cheats," "scripts," "bots," "trainers," and automation programs, that interact with the Software in any way, for any purpose, including, without limitation, any unauthorized third party programs that intercept, emulate, or redirect any communication between the Software and Riot Games and any unauthorized third party programs that collect information about the Game by reading areas of memory used by the Software to store information.

Please note that the intent of this section is to protect our Players from installing potentially dangerous third party modifications – these types of files can often contain keyloggers, viruses, and malware as well. In addition, we’re also trying to protect our players from being matched up against players who are using modifications to give them a competitive advantage in-game. No one enjoys playing with or against players who cheat, so we try to prevent that from happening in League of Legends.

We understand that some of our players like to create modifications such as skins, splash art, loading screens, and HUD modifications. Because these types of modifications don’t provide any competitive advantage, they will not result in disciplinary action. However, if you do encounter any Technical issues, the best first step would be to remove any modifications you might have, as they can often interact with our Client in unexpected and potentially harmful ways.

I hope this clears things up a bit, but if you have any other questions, please let me know. I hope to see you on the Fields of Justice!

Work hard, Play Harder!!

Warmest Regards,
Levis Bjork

That's pretty cool and awesome of Riot to allow.

Doubt I'd ever put in the little bit of effort required to do it.

I've known about the champion skins, not the map skins though, might add one of those.

One thing that doe suck about the champion skins is that only you can see them, other players can't.

I think that's a good thing because then Riot doesn't lose money out of people not buying RP. They have to keep their servers running somehow.

And I didn't know about champion skins either, might look into those actually, make me look a bit prettier.

Yea that does make sense. I had seen stuff where people had weird skins and such that I didn't recognize. Figured they got them special for something. Never would have expected RIOT to actually allow this. Even though I'll be the only one to see it. I still want this Maokai :)

I saw a site that had skin mods on them a long time ago, the best being Spider Man Amumu xD but to my knowledge only you can see the skins.

I saw spider man amumu. You're correct on only you being able to see them. Just means I'll be having more fun than my opponents. Next time I see a Kayle on the other team I'm taking Tryndamere. (Cloud and Sephiroth skins)

Joking I presume? If not, go get yourself Final Fantasy VII and never regret it. Also, say goodbye to hours upon hours of your life.

So far I've got a Yuffie Sivir, Cloud Tryndamere, Sephiroth Kayle, Tifa Vi and the best of all? Tonberry Cho'gath. Haven't been able to test the Tifa skin yet though. I don't have Vi.

They've been really easy to load and remove. Takes like 5 seconds to load a new skin. Only had 2 not work right. One was a Dark Elf version of Ashe which causes her to look like she'd been smashed in a gear and Mad Moxxi Caitlin.

Were they newer FF games? Any of the ones after 10 (and kindof including 10) were trash compared to most of the predecessors.
