I know there is already a thread about RIft, but no one's posted in it in a long time. I wouldn't want to upset anyone by necro bumping :P (If you want to combine this thread with that one, I'm cool with that. Just wasn't sure if you mods would have preferred me to start up a new thread).

Anyways! If anyone is interested, Raptr is doing a special promotion right now. If you play Rift for 12 hours you get the core game, the expansion AND one month of free play time.

It seems like a lot of people weren't digging the game. TBH, when I first played... it was okay. The awesome thing about Rift is the amazing character creating. You can multi-class and the amount of skills you have to choose from is insane. Imo, it gives you character customization like no other MMORPG. It's what sets it aside from WoW.

That being said, I will admit in the beginning it was unbalanced and sort of bland. I expected the game to go under after 3 months. Instead it's gotten soooo much better. It's balanced, it's fun and I'm really enjoying it- especially now since I got the expansion and first month free (I had already bought the core game or I would have gotten that too). :D

Just wanted to let you guys know the crazy awesome deal Raptr was doing ^_^

I played a free trial of Rift awhile ago and I played a good bit of it but got bored of it. Wasn't enough to it to keep my attention I guess

That's how I felt when I played when it first came out. They've made a lot of changes since then, and I'm loving it now :)

Played for about 2 hours, got a shoulder item reward (cool!) I love Raptr and their rewards system, gotten way too many discounts and free stuff from them lol.

So far I'm kinda confused by it. I chose mage, but their talent (purpose?) system is kinda weird to me. You choose any 3 and can swap out and stuff? I'm pretty used to WoW and having cookie-cutter spell rotations so it's kinda weird having like 15 things on my hotbar at level 8 and only using 4 or 5 attacks :S I'm sure I'll get it though after a little while though. Using Warlock, Pyromancer, and Archon I think speccing more in Warlock, and Archon as a subspec. Way different than just rolling fire or frost mage lol.

That is *exactly* why I love Rift. The character/class creation and skill options are amazing :D I will admit, it's a bit daunting at first... and can def throw you off when you're not used to it. But the more you play, the more you get used to it. I know how you feel though, I'm only lvl 13 right and already have 4 bars at the bottom of my screen to accommodate all of my skills LOL

I also love being able to cast and move. I feel so badarse running and jumping to an enemy while casting xD

What server are you on? I'm on the only PvP server.

Well I spent a couple hours this morning on a new rogue...I really like the game, just even with the game tellin me what to spec and spend points in it's pretty overwhelming haha. I'll keep playing though. Sucks that the rewards they hand out can't be equipped with a trial account though, sneaky sneaky. I think I'll try rolling a cleric to 10 and see how it is, and if it's worth plugging through lol. I think my dude's name is Reinich (not 100% on this) Defiant faction on the PvP server if anyone wants to add me as well!

It is overwhelming lol But I love it. Such a nice change of pace. If you'r using Raptr and trying to get the free game and everything, you'll upgrade from a trial account in no time (12 hours) :D

It is a Pay to Play, but they have a deal so you can get a free month. Once the deal is gone it's back to monthly subscriptions

Through Raptr. That was the whole point of me mentioning on here, it's a phenomenal deal. It's essentially saving like $100....

I'm guessing this doesn't work if you already have an account without an subscription. i believe I have the first expansion, but I was trying to get the free month lol.

It still works :) I bought the game when it came out, quit after a month... and started again a few weeks ago when I heard about the Raptr deal and still got the expansion and a month for free :)

You just have to install Raptr and install Rift and make sure that Raptr is running while you play. What my hubby and I did.... being on the character selection screen counts as "playing" so we just left it up overnight :P

Wait so I have to be experienced in the game by playing 12 hours of the desktop app. So does that mean I have to make a trial account and play for 12 hours, then if I want to play on my main I can switch then? I wish I could add my xfire account into the Raptr library for hours played for games : /

You don't need to create a trial account if you already have the game. "RIFT Lite is our free trial program, allowing any user with a Trion Worlds account in good standing to access the first 20 levels of RIFT."

I didn't have to create a trial account or anything. I just logged into the site, downloaded the game, downloaded Raptr.... played for 12 hours with Raptr running in the background, and bam- free stuff! :P

If you do join and ever wanna play, hit me up. I'm on the PvP server as well (Mizel.. of course :P). There are some awesome PvP world events for higher levels from what I'm hearing. Can't wait to get there. The Warfronts (Rifts version of a BG) are pretty cool too.
