"Trion Worlds' fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing gaming Rift will go free-to-play on June 12, the developer announced today.

The full game will be available to all players: access will be open to all zones, dungeons and other content and is guaranteed for all future updates to Rift. The switch will also give all players access to the expanded in-game store, where they can purchase boosts, cosmetic details, mounts and other items."


I'm not sure if this is perfect timing since I just started playing... or terrible timing :P

There are a lot of different aspects in it then in WoW. Which is why I like it :P

Every MMO looks like WoW :P They kind of set the standard for the whole WASD, hotbar, spell rotation style that we've had for the last 8 - 9 years. RIFT plays kind of the same that way, but at the same time it doesn't. There's so much more customization and you can get as deep into the playstyle as you want. It's a good change of pace from WoW.

Anyone here still playing this? Has it been ruined by the FTP model? More specifically, has it affected PvP much? I don't want to bother if I'm going to repeatedly get my ass kicked by players with OP in-game store items.

Thinking about giving it a try, gameplay looks great and I'm really liking the look of the massive skill tree (something GW2 lacks).

I still play. Honestly, I haven't noticed any real changes since it went F2P. Still the same awesome game :)

I am currently playing this game on and off!
I really think its a pretty solid game. However it has some PVP balancing issues in my opinion.
But the PVE is great :)
