OK. So, there seems to be a broad concept of what constitutes being a "gamer"... and there isn't really an authoritative definition. So, I'm curious as to how others define what are characteristics of a "gamer" ?? I'm starting to think it may not be an easy answer.

I think that it's anyone who has any kind of interest in any game whatsoever. Doesn't matter what type of game or how many they buy a year, just their interest level for said game.

Here's my definitions of different gamers...

Super Gamer- Buys and beats at least 10+ a month
Hardcore Gamer- Buys 6-9 games a month and beats them
Regular Gamer- Buys 3-5 games a month and will beat most of them
Casual Gamer- Buys 1-2 games a month, and most likely wont beat them

I consider a gamer that has fun playing games and doesn't play for the competition

I like all of these definitions!

Do you think it's safe to say that some gamers will only play certain types of games, and therefore have a different "label" besides the general "gamer" label? Or does it not matter?
