i am in desperate need of help! i cant game! wen i open my games these errors apear:

Counter-Strike Source: The procedure entry point ?Lock@CThreadMutex@@QBEXXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0.dll.

Oblivion: It just comes up with the "Send/Don't Send Error Report" and if i press send it loads forever and lags up the PC.

Need for Speed Carbon: Same as Oblivion

Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour: Please make sure that you have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements.

Fable The Lost Chapters: It just opens and closes, then, when i try to reopen it it says "We are sorry, but we have detected that the game did not exit correctly. We recommend starting the game in safe mode. Safe mode may disable some advanced features of the game, but may allow you to play the game." and even in safe mode the same thing happens.

Dawn of War: Working

Prince of Persia: The game ended unexpectedly. Please see Readme.txt file for technical support. Readme.txt didn't help... as usual.

Black & White: Works.. kinda, it runs in an almost half size non-windowed version in the top left of the screen, and the rest is black, the game itself works though.

They are pretty much the games that I could be stuffed testing

CSS and NFSC used to have similar errors to C&C but have changed.

All these games were working perfectly yesterday and I do have the minimum-recommended requirements, and DirectX 9.0, so I have no idea what to do!!! i would re-download/install directX but i have dial-up connection and it would take hours!

PLZ HELP IF POSSIBLE!

Did you download/install anything to your computer since yesterday? I suggest a System Restore, but it wait for other experienced people to help you first :).

I don't think it deletes files since yesterday, but not for sure.

system restore does not delete files, it just uninstalls and goes back in time before you installed something - lets say you downloaded MSN yesterday and installed it yesterday - use system restore to go back to last week - the downlaoded MSN will be there but it wont be installed

and from all those errors, it seems you need a new computer - search for directX and upgrade - some of the games could be having problems because of your graphics card - happened to me before with my old pc

how old is the graphics card? it may not even be your graphics card, it could be your motherboard giving out from using a graphics card like that but do a system restore to a month ago - if you're afraid you will lose some important files, back them up on a cd or external hard drive - and if you dont have either or no way to back them up - i can tell you the physical files won't be deleted - just the installations - but it can take hours to actually restore, i had to do it less than a month ago with my pc because of major problems

Go under start>accessories>system tools. Then just find the date you want to restore to. GLUCK!!
