Good evening all,

I am interested in getting a PS3 as I like the blu-ray feature and am kinda ticked at MS for making my X-box completely useless (no new games released). My question is whether the memory affects the blu-ray. Also, does the blu-ray in the PS3 really match up to a standard blu-ray?

Thanks in advance. Happy gaming!!!

80gb if you want to play Ps2 games
40gb if you don't care.

The harddrive spaces do not effect blu-ray, the harddrive is simply for HDD install from games to decrease load times, dl things off the psn and also store things. I have heard people say the PS3 is basically one of the best for Blu-Ray players because of the firmware updates made possible and that's it basically the cheapest.

There's still a lot of 60's on the shelf in UK? In the US it's almost all 40gb and 80gb. Very few 20's and 60's.

Yeah you can only get 40 and 60s here right now. If you could get a 80 here Id have taken it.

..... I would buy the 40 Gig, and do what i quote below. =D

The PS3's hard disk is compatible with just about any 2.5-inch SATA notebook hard disk. What's important is that you get the right size to fit into the 2.5-inch drive tray of your console. As for storage capacity, he recommends going for any of the big HDD sizes ranging from 120GB to as high as 250GB.

If you have any existing data on your PS3's hard disk, don't forget to back it up using either an external storage device or copy selected files in the XMB. Don't forget to format the new hard disk you want to install under FAT32 since that's the file format system that the PS3 recognizes.

Everything after that is pretty much the usual handyman job with a Philips-head screwdriver and some screws.

I would never buy a 40gb, it's basically a tard pack. No card readers, no PS2 bc , and only 2 usb ports. When I get my 2nd PS3 I'm probably going to go on ebay and get 60gb and then upgrade it too the biggest size at the time, if I don't care for ebay I'd settle for a 80gb and upgrade from there. or perhaps just buy the latest ps3 edition and just settle with that hd.
