we had just over 920 members, the server was hacked and our database was wiped, i was just able to get posts, threads, polls, and other stuff back, the users table was completely crapped out, 167 users were deleted

where were you when this happened? lol, it was 2 weeks ago today

If you have IP logs of when this took place you could send them to me via e-mail or PM, and I can do some digging if you want. And I could tell you how he did it so it doesn't happen again if you want.

server was wiped, no log or other info was left after he was done - he did it and emailed everyone on that one server to go to his graphics site for hosting, and it had nothing to do with anything at all

I wasn't on around then, from the middle of December on to the beggining of Jan i'd given up on coming on.

What graphics site was it? This guy sounded like a decent hacker until that. After all, he took the liberty to cover his tracks. But his website might provide some insight...

yeah i remember now lol, i had a huge headache putting databases from different dates together, vb staff said it was impossible but at least i was able to prove them wrong

and as for the name and address and stuff, i found it when he first gave me the site when i whoised the domain, the guy doesn't even know how to protect his identity lol

we know he uses hostgator as his host and domain registrar (not smart) and he has a dedicated server with hostgator

he didnt attack the forum, he had something against my host or something, they targetted the host's main site which happens to be on the same server I am, its just the bad luck lol

november - it had a trigger

the trigger was my old host owner decided to sell his business to an idiot that doesn't know the meaning of "host websites" because from maybe May thru November 1st, we had 0% downtime and speeds were up and awesome. The first week of november the new owner introduced himself to his new customers then moved us to his servers which were complete crap, had me packing cuz i cant host a vbulletin forum on a crappy server with 256 mb RAM wtf lol
