Well, most of my class did bad on the last test (except for me), so we're going to be doing a lot of On-Demand writings. These writings are scored from 1 to 4. 1 being novice, 2 apprentice, 3 proficient, and 4 distinguished. We're all supposedto get at least a 3; 4 is for almost perfect writings. Well anyways, I'm getting tired and you know how you can miss things when you're tired. I'm going to type the prompt and my answer and I want you guys to tell my if it's at least a 3 in your opinion. Feel free to give me any tips tonight too... as long as it doesn't mean I should revise the whole thing. I don't want to write it again. I hope a few of you will actually take the time to read it. :-P The indenting didn't work... so don't say anything about that.

Prompt:
Dropout Dora- Your friend Dora has lost interest in school and her grades are suffering. As a result, she will be repeating ninth grade. Dora has decided to quit and work more hours as a waitress to support herself. She says she'll eventually get her diploma on her own. Compose a logical argument convincing Dora to stay in school, with reasons why it's to her benefit.

My answer:

Dear Dora,
Are you ready to work long shifts as a busy waitress? You think you have it figured out. Well, think again. It is absolutely neccessary for you to continue school. I don't want to see you drop out.
First off, you know you can't lose with a good education. There are so many things out there you need to learn. As well as being able to help you in future siuations, some of the information may be interesting to you. Maybe, if you pay more attention, you will hear something that you like.
You did realise that a better education gives you more opportunities too, right? Do you know for sure that you will have that waitress job? What if someone who is more qualified tries for the same position? It is a million times more likely for a high school graduate to get a good job than it is for someone who drops out. It makes a humongous difference.
As well as that, it is quite obvious you'll be paid better if you graduate. You're in ninth grade; I highly doubt that supporting yourself will be as easy as you make it seem. Try not to fool yourself. You wouldn't make as much money as you would need. You really aren't ready to quit school yet.
Dora, I truely hope you decide to stay in school. After all, it has so many benefits that will dramatically affect your future. Whether you realise it or not, school exsists solely to repare you for life. Without school, it's like you are walking into a minefield with no clue what to do; anything could happen. Please, for both of us, put off waitressing and just go to school tomorrow.

Your friend,
Sheriann Bouchard

I hate writing stuff like that.
But that's the kinda stuff teachers are always going on about.
I'd give it a 4.

lol i like how you started off - i'll give it a 3.5 - some spelling errors though :-P

stretch the fact that she's just in the 9th grade - if she tries to get her diploma later, she will be the oldest one in the class and she's bound to get embarrassed

just some ideas :D good luck!

There are actually a few spelling errors (mostly mistypes, such as missing the n from in). Once you get those cleaned up I would give it a 3 (:

Yeah, I was in a hurry to type it. I checked my paper an those spelling errors weren't there. I fixed most of them on that post a minute ago. Thanx guys; as long as I get at least a 3 I have a good grade. Well I've turned my paper in. When I get my grade I suppose I can come back and tell what it was.
