Ok me and my friend were having this debate.... across all platforms (including pc) name your top 5 fps. No we were disscusing this over just fun factor and not so much controls/graphics etc. So all games have a shot.
For me, my list is:
1. Goldeneye 64
This is going to top most peoples list. Just the fun of multi player is what made this game for me. Here's hoping that XBLA Remake somehow happens (though i doubt it).
2. Half-Life 2
Everyone loved both of these but Half Life 2 really stood out for me. The single player felt a lot better and there were no moments were I was like 'THIS IS BS' (Okay maybe the prison level with the automatic guns). But the game just breathed life into FPS' I felt. I am going to have to include Counter Strike in this as well as it is a game I RARELY got bored of.
3. Halo CE
There was an amazing joy playing this for the first time. It actualy made me want to own an Xbox. Never in a console FPS did you have squad AI so talkative and active. I actualy felt bad seeing them die. Not to mention the MP which rivaled Goldeneye with fun factor.
4. Duke Nukem 3D (PC)
As ridiculous as this game was I just had a crap load of fun with it. I dont think we saw humour of this level before in an videogame. Even the N64 version was great becuse of the Multiplayer.
5. COD2 and COD4
Okay when I first got my hands on a 360. I played the COD2 demo and was floored. Just so much going on, such crisp graphics, I decided I was going to get a 360 with my HDTV. When the MP worked it was amazing and the single player was one of a kind I had to throw COD4 in there as well as I think it just continued the series beautifully.
That was the list I came up with, eager to see some of your choices.
