So, do you type using the whole home row keys thing or do you have to look at the keyboard? In 6th grade I learned how to do it without looking and I was fast but I'm even faster not doing it that way. I type my own way and every once in a while glance at the keyboard. How about you?

I never use home keys. I have to look at the keyboard to type like 75 words a minute. Sometimes, I type with 2 fingers, sometimes with 4, sometimes with 1. It really is just random on how I type. I never use Home Keys though.

Never look. I already had it done before 6th grade. I'm still not so fast, because I casually make mistakes, but when I know what I'm typing, I'm pretty fast.

XD Not the 2 figurers on the same hand! 1 finger from each hand, or 2 fingures from each hand, or 1 finger from each hand and a thumb, not 1 hand.

yea i was saying about 1 finger on each hand - do you know what 75 wpm looks like? lol

there are some tests and tools that test how fast you type - im trying to remember the one i used but it started with an 'M' - its pretty accurate

Oh. "M"? Hmmm...Dunno. I mainly use 5 programs:
Photoshop CS2
FireFox
WinAmp
Photobucket (Probaboly not anymore, with this uploader)
MS Paint (This is where I edit the white trim around a Render to make it not a white trim)

Not too big on the whole Computer Program world, as you can see.

lol the "M" Program measures how fast you type - now i remember it being a "Mc" lol

i'll say it when i remember :-) and maybe even give a link if i can find one

I used to use Type to Learn in Elementry school.
I took computer apps last year and it said I could type anywhere from 70-100 WPM.
I don't really type that fast on the forum, cause I don't really need too.
Lol.

But yeah, I used the home row keys for the most part.

Yeah, I also learned to type with the home keys in 6th grade. I already had some decent typing skills before I took that class, so I ended up being the second person to finish the entire typing course in my class. It doesn't matter if I look or not, I still type around the same speed. I usually only look when I'm looking for the symbol keys, cause I can never remember what order those things are in. I would like to try that course again, just to see how I've improved in the past 3 years. I think I can type around 70-85 WPM. Just a guess.

EDIT: I found this small little typing test tool that lets your check your typing speed very quickly. I can do about 97 WPM.

76 words per minute. We should add this to the arcade? It's fun.

EDIT: 84 WORDS PER MINUTE!

i don't think that the test is right though - unless I really can type 120+ words per minute lol - my minimum was 112 cuz i messed up on the apostrophe, highest was 125.

edit: ROFL - just copy and paste - i got 1200 wpm now :D but the 120 wpm was really me, just wanted to see if it showed any changes or if it stayed at 0 lol

Easy . . . just use Shamus-Fan's laptop, where it takes a week for 1 minute to elapse.

I rarely look down at the keyboard. I dont know how many words per minute I type though. But I'm not that fast.

i go back and forth between using homerow keys and my own blend of pecking with 6 3 fingers on each hand. my pinkies and ring fingers are never used. But i still manage to type 65ish wpm. But then again, for my job, I have to.

i only use one hand to type. and it's really fast. i usually can type super fast and when people are watching me it's weird because i type with my left hand and people just stare. oh well i type fast with one hand and that's all i care about.

I learned to type in 4th grade. but I just took a typing test and I passed I was really happy but I typed slower than I would. only because if i pressed delete it counted as an error.

Whats home rows?

Wikimedia Error (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_row)
It's the first five letters going from left to right in the middle row of a keyboard or typewriter.
Not sure if your from the states, so it might be different with your keyboard.
