I just got a laptop of my nan as she got a new one, its one her old school ones, its actually now scrap so she gave it me, it has Windows XP Professinal :wub: I got rid of all of her old school stuff, only problem, its really slow, what can I get to speed it up (alot) and cheap like round about £40 ($70 odd)

that's not a lot of information lol

what kind of laptop is it? brand? model?

do you know what kind of ram your motherboard would accept?

and will you be using the ram to put up a winners thread for sotw 21 soon? or will have to do it? :-P

and £40 is roughly $80 lol (irrelevant)

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic but it's with my laptop, it won't let me do automatic updates, considering it was one of my names old school laptops, I don't know what to do, here's a screenshot -

i'd recommend you restart your PC - and your computer is windows 98 which is pretty old, but i don't know if the error is linked to that

Its my laptop and its been upgraded to windows xp professional Service Pack 1, and it's like this all the time, I need to update it so it has service pack 2
:-( any other idea's, I need to do it asap because I can't get msn live on it nokia pc suite, and any games, updated Java, and its really starting to annoying me!! :-P

reinstall lol - all i can think of now, my brain isn't functioning well enough today to think of other solutions but if I get any I'll let you know

why dont u just get another windows xp cd and then just reinstall everything

log in to your computer? reinstall the operating system - get a new OS install cd and just run it, it could be that your OS is just messed up - i can't tell much about it since i've never really had that problem
