Well, I recently saw this Graffiti video on YouTube, about how people who tag sometimes get killed, and I was wondering, Graffiti, or tagging, do you think it's wrong?

Personally, no, it's not wrong. But, if you tag people's houses/cars, etc, it is wrong. But if you're just doing it on a wall and for fun it's nothing wrong. What's wrong with doing art?

ok so let me get this straight tagging and doing graffiti or how ever you spell it, is the same. and secondly, i agree with you in some ways. I mean graffiti is doing art but some people don't like it because its on the walls and the spray paint is bad for the walls. and some graffiti is like offensive to other people.

if people want to do graffiti they should do it on their own walls because no one would like it if someone else came to their house and just vandalized the outside wall - that's why its illegal to do it without permission

@ IceSkater: I know, trust me. I've been doing it for awhile. Just some people might not know.

Oh and, there are some walls which are good for graffiti, and sometimes seeing it is a good thing isn't it? I mean when I was little I sometimes saw really good work and it amazed me.

yeah, the art work is cool but when its offesive then its not ok. but I saw this cool graffiti of like a alligator and it had no offensive remarks and it was cool looking.

See, I think it's alright if you keep it to slightly hidden places, like under bridges, or even better, on construction sites. I know a lot of them use big cardboard walls to keep people out, and since they're temporary, it's not like its there forever, and the town doesn't have to pay to have it removed.

A lot of the problem is that people do obnoxious things, and SOMEONE has to pay for it. (aka the city/town) so obviously they're gonna be pissed.

As an art, I love it, but a lot of kids just go out with spray paint and handwrite their name on any random wall to get 'badass points'. Basically it's a larger version of writing "_____ was here" in black marker. It's lame.

I like things that take time and talent, thank you vury much.

Exactly.
Anything else would be considered art.
And i think most of the people who do graffiti don't want it to be considered "Art".

Actually, some people who do graffiti do it for two reasons.
1: Get their name out (Most common one)
2: Art (Not common)

Right now, I do it for reason 2, because that is what I want people to see, art.

Graffiti isn't wrong as long as you have permission to do it at a certain spot and what you put there isn't vulgar.

My cousin does graffiti and he does it for both the reasons you stated, Raw.
Every time he tags something, though, he really does make art.
It's incredible.

He also gets paid to graffiti people's walls and whatnot.
He painted this one girls room, it was so cool.

Anyways, I don't really have a problem with graffiti if it's something made with some effort.
Like abandoned buildings and whatnot; they're probably just going to be taken down anyways.

I like this thread. raw... if yo're a tagger... move to Germany. They will HIRE you to tag the outside of there office/building and sort of turn there building into a giant billboard. I've seen it a lot!! So do I think its wrong.. it depends. You drive to my house in the middle of the night and tag my garage door... and i'll chase you down with my M16. You make a TASTEFUL mural on the side of my church, and i'll praise you.

Lol. Germany sounds like a good place to go then.

But meh, I don't tag houses for several reasons.

1: The thought of being in trouble
2: Actually getting in trouble for it.

So yeah.
