April 2008 NPD: Month full of ???

PS2 really showing the needs of pricecut.. 360/PS3 pulling pathetic #'s in a month where they should of sniffed 300k..perhaps sales just basically stopped for everyday that GTA4 wasn't out. May NPD should be telling. Wii still on record shattering pace and DS is no slouch either.

GTA fell below my expectations...was expecting nearly a 2+ million month with a install base that is around 10 million in the USA. Mario Kart/PS3 version fell in line of what I expected, Wii Play has been in the top 10 since it launched many months ago..defiantly got be a record even though it's basically a tech demo with a wiimote. Brawl fell way below what I was expecting...I thought a million or so. Prologue did great seeing it's basically a oversized demo on a system where owners are known for not buying games...GH3 and COD4 continue to show legs...COD4 keeps selling like it is on the 360 the PS3/360 combine total will surpass 10 million..in fact I'd be willing to bet it does seeing it's a great game+it's still regular game price..last I knew it was @ 9 million WW...although that's probably shipped and not the actual sell through

With how bad the economy is and is going to get a 400/500 PS3 needs a price cut to remain relevant...and seriously 360 is long over due.

i agree with the ps2 needing to lower price but still after all these years ps2 is still selling 6 figures a month

wii dominates solely because it's next gen and it's cheap. the ystarted out by limiting the amount they shipped and built anticipation for people who wanted one but were too late to the store to get one so they gradually added more wiis that they shipped out and it looks like it's going well!

I don't think it'll happen this gen at least and maybe they'll ride Wii's hype into a 1st place next gen. 1st place is locked up..now it's up to 360/PS3 to fight for 2nd. Another theory is going out the window...many ppl predicted that all the 3 would be really close unlike last gen...except the way things are shaping up the same thing is going to happen as it did last gen...the way it's looking... Wii is going to be the PS2 of this gen...PS3 will be the Xbox and 360 will be the Gamecube...except I see PS3 and 360 beating Xbox/Gamecube sale by at least 10 million...Wii will probably be around 120 with the hd twins around 45.
