Only have enough money for one at this time. I already have a computer, but this one would be way better. The one im looking at costs about $200, but thats without a operating system installed.

Or yes the 360.

Either way I want to get back into gaming, and I dunno which to choose.. but my current computer won't handle gaming very well i don't think.. it's pretty slow

Yeah down the road I do plan on building a custom computer, but if I bought this one it would let me delay those plans and be able to save up some cash for other things.

LiNuX would probably be more reliable to listen to.
But I guess if your purpose is for gaming, do you tend to play more computer game or console games right now?
I'd probably make that a high benefactor of my decision.

many games on consoles, especially the xbox and 360 can be found on the PC a little bit later after the console release - but if you tell me the specs i can tell you which will be better for gaming and also if you should wait to build your own custom one

Well the thing is the guy is selling it for a friend, and it's being sold on ebay. Looks to be a default alien, so I will see if I can find the specs on the net. It doesn't list much on the listing as the guy that's selling it doesn't know much about computers. Says it's brand new, never used.

Here's what is lists..:

processor:AMD Athlon64(x2)3400+

memory(ram):512mb

gigabyte AM2 motherboard

NVIDIA GeForce 3-D graphics accelerator

7200rpm HD

PC-4200DDR2 memory

Here's my current in a nutshell:

Dell Optiplex GX50
Intel Celeron
1.2GHz Speed
256mb Ram
200gb HD
WinXP Pro

And it can't be upgraded hardly.. it's not a tower, but a desktop one

get a 360 lol, the specs on the "new" pc doesn't look too great for gaming, you'll need some big upgrades to make it really game worthy

or you can save for a custom computer - get an amd dual core processor and 2 gig ram along with a 500 gb hdd and a geforce nvidia 8600GT or something - cost like $400 or so

but in the end it is up to you

Eric

Well I could also upgrade the computer.. mite be cheaper than building one? I dunno..

Well I could also upgrade the computer.. mite be cheaper than building one? I dunno..

it'll be like building a new one because you need a better processor and a motherboard to go with it

i think my server processor is a 4200 amd and my current pc is a 5600 windsor cpu

my server's processor is pretty old and i was on a budget and it cost me about $85 and it was already nearly a year old, so i can only assume the 3400 is older - and i just tried to look it up, read an article that reviewed this CPU in 2004

but in the end it is up to you, you can get computer parts much cheaper these days and new can be cheaper than an upgrade sometimes - reason i made the PC i am running right now, would cost about $300 more to upgrade my old one

I would want a computer, but if you're looking for gaming the 360 would probably be better, like Linux said.

Go 360 dude, you won't have to worry about upgrading in 2 years when/if a Crysis killer emerges.

1 thing is for sure about that is you'll defiantly have to invest in a new HD..cheap though I got an 320gb for 80

wouldn't buy that either, single core is like 5 years old news now lol, need something with dual core so your cpu doesnt over load with games that use a lot of power

and only 1 gb of ram, could do better - upgrading this will mean you get to keep the PSU, DVD Drive, case, and the hdd and still have to get another hdd

and why ultraviolet light? lol, you could get skin cancer from that!

I've specked parts for people the past months including one for myself and my father - if you want you can tell me a budget and i can look for good parts for you for a custom built - just tell me what parts you have already so i dont look for those too

but its up to you in the end, and the user there has 0 rating, i never transact with people less than 5 rating if the value is over $25 lol

where do you shop? lol cuz at newegg you can get a 500 gb for $80 - 7200rpm with 16mb cache

its the same one i have but when i bought it, the price was $115 lol but it went down big time, i might buy it and install it just in case the sale goes away soon

here is link:

oh - well if you want that pc for gaming you'll have a tough time playing newer and newer games and if you want to upgrade later you will have to buy nearly every part even the PSU if it lacks connections

so i can't really advise you any further and again, in the end it is up to you, i can't tell you what you want :)

bold is for important... I had 80 bucks to spend off of my pre-paid credit card and 320 was the biggest in my range.. still haven't gotten ready to use either.

Well which of the 2 are better iyo?

the two computers?

the first amd athlon mainly because i know more about it - its uses DDR2 ram cards - dont know what it is for the intel celeron D one and it is cheaper to upgrade DDR2 than DDR and its a dual core processor - the celeron is just a single core

Well whats a decent priced one that you can spec me?

I already have a cd burner, a 200gb hd that could work for the time being to save some money. Otherwise, I would need everything else

I could pick the case out also, so you don't have to include that

If your current computer is a POS then go with the PC

but if it runs fine, but is incapable of playing games, then go with a 360.

If you had the money, i'd reccomend a ps3 though. :-D

Eric

Well my current computer isn't anything special.. i originally bought it for schoolwork and stuff. It is a lot better than my parents computer that I always had to use, but it's not the best. It lags a lot sometimes, and I just think it would be crap for gamewise.

I guess if linux can get a nice speced one at a decent price, I can save up a bit more for awhile and then build a nice computer that will last me awhile, and can be upgraded if needed in the future.

Yeah, I was always thinking of getting a ps3, but more of my friends play 360 so that's why I was gunna take that route
