Does anyone know if or where you can get a HDMI cable for your ps2? I wanted to know because I am getting a new computer soon and some of the monitors have HDMI ports for your game system. (Too poor to afford a TV and computer.) :twitcy:

I ps3 cable should work on your ps2, but I'm not 100% sure. You should look online at your local Walmart. When you go to pick it up, ask if it works for the ps2 also. I don't see why It wouldn't, Sony made everything else adaptable. Plus theirs always ebay...

You can't get an HDMI cable for a PS2, but you CAN get component cables. They're better than the composite Red/Yellow/White cables, but they're not quite as good as HDMI cables.

Either way not many PS2 games are HD, Component will bring out the PS2's best.

bingo - you will need good HD games to make the whole HD part of the monitor work - the graphics won't look as great as you would expect - even if the hardware can handle HD doesn't mean the software packs the HD to be handled

It'll clean it up a bit though won't it? When I play Nocturne on my PS2 (for some reason it doesn't work on my PS3) its all fuzzy and crap. Would getting a component cable make non-HD games look better at all?

The VGA spot is meant for VGA connectors, which carry analog components, RGBHV. That is your component cable spot

Hope this shows how it works.
See, the VGA is component. It splits up into the cables

thx... but what i was sorta trying to say was that im trying to use my monitor directly as a TV because u can do that if u have a system that supports HDMI so thx.

I knew what you were asking, but I don't think that the PS2 supports HDMI. If it did, you could just buy one off eBay

clean it up? probably a little but not much because the game was never created to handle hi-def and the same goes for the PS2 - back then CRTs were the thing lol

and when i played my PS1 games on my PS2, i had the same feeling as you lol, doesn't look well

fudge. it's like theres this large layer of dust on top of the screen when i play non-HD games.

and yes, the difference is extremely noticable on a smaller screen.

and of course ps1 wouldn't look better on ps2, they're both set at the same definition.

and i mean, ps2 games are 480i SD. Even 480P would be good haha

and Toby83, no. PS2 does NOT support HDMI.
