Well...I don't use GIMP, but using program knowledge, I would cay either crop or image size, which would be in edit, image, or something like that.
I prefer crop while holding Shift, that way, it is a same dimentions, but you can change the size without it looking deformed.

cropping and shrinking are two different things
look for something that says "resize image" or "resize" and go with that - I dont use gimp either so i couldn't tell you with a 100% confidence but look for resize image or something similar and you should be on your way

I would look for either "Image Size" or "Resize". I don't use GIMP either, so I can't be specific.
Cropping would be cutting part of the picture off.
