I wanna know how hard it is to change the disc drive in a laptop. because I want a blu ray drive, but none of the computers in the store have blu ray, and we don't have time to order a custom one online (and its much cheaper to get it in store)

so i was wondering, is it possible to change the dvd drive to a blu ray drive in a laptop? or are you stuck with whatever it comes with?

yea if it fits - the thing about laptop optical drives and desktop ones is the format - well size rather - the shape differs from one laptop to another -

like my lenovo laptop dvd drive will NEVER fit my hp one - and same with my sony vaio - you just need one that fits - generally replacing the drive is easy - just slides out - sometimes its locked and you may have to unlock it like the battery and other times its screwed in which isn't difficult either

oh alright. you told me laptop gpu's are hard to change, and i found like the perfect laptop but it has no blu ray. So all i have to do is find one of the same size and swap em? good deal.

(dual core, 3gb ram, 320 gb HD, geforce 9500 graphics.)

laptop gpu has to match a lot of things - your motherboard, has to fit your case, and has to accept the connections to the screen - not always like desktops sadly - but if you know what to do, its not very hard

and your laptop specs so far sounds pretty decent for what you want to do - just hope it has fans that can keep it cool as well as heatsinks to avoid overheating

If i switched between dvd and blu ray drive, would I have to install anything on it too? Or would it be good to go?

well generally your computer will recognize the new hardware and install automatically - sometimes you may have to go to control panel and look for the hardware yourself and add it on - other than that, you don't have to do anything
