reset your router to factory defaults - i had a similar problem with my old linksys router a few years ago - it kept disconnecting me

you have the same router I have right now - in your browser put this in the address bar: 192.168.1.1

the username and password is generally "admin" and "admin" or try "admin" and "password"

go to applications and gaming and see if there are any ports forwarded - if there are, TAKE NOTES so you can forward them again

then go to "administration" then "factory defaults" - click "yes" and save settings - it should restore in a few minutes

restoring fixes a LOT of router issues - i haven't had to do that with my current router but i had to do it several times with my old linksys router - hope that fixes it

router firmware usually gets upgraded automatically if there is one but you can go to linksys.com or something and download one and install yourself but i doubt it has to do with the firmware of your router

i dont even have a router anymore, mine just stopped working, was a linksys too, but does router firmware depend on if it will work with another computer? because xbox is a computer itself and if your own computer works and connects to the internet, it doesnt show why the xbox wouldnt

I have more problems I upgraded the firmware of my router from the Linksys site and it said it would help my XBL connection problem so i downloaded it and ugraded the router now heres the problem because of the upgrade i no longer have a wireless internet connection i have to connect my moms laptop to my modem via ethernet cable to get internet the idiots at Linksys never said the upgrade wasn't for my model the problem seems to be that the modem and router aren't reading each other its kinda like my network hardware is having a divorce does anyone know why my router and modem arent seeing each other cuz my cpu and my moms laptop see them

reset your router to factory defaults lol, firmware upgrades for routers don't usually do anything these days, they are just there and if your router needs it, it'll download it by itself - no need to force it in - resetting should help wit the wireless issue and it may even help with the xbl issue as well

hm..wow - are you sure the wireless is configured properly? sometimes the simple stuff is the answer lol - see if it was turned off and if you can turn it back on

the wireless is on but my modem is like 10 yrs old so maybe the routers firmware upgrade made my router too new to work with the modem

what...your modem just brings the internet to your router and your router takes over - your modem should recognize the internet coming through

and also your modem may need a username and password and you have to put that into the router configuration - my modem needs a password and I had to set that up in order to get the internet working

dont know what you did with yours lol, but i can't help much without actually seeing it there as well as the configurations
