I've been looking at some games to get on PS3 and was just wondering which would be the best option.

Battlefield Bad Company or Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

I've played all the battlefields on PC but didn't enjoy BF2 or 2142 all that much. Played several Rainbow Six titles on PC up to Raven Shield and thought it was brilliant.

I know there's thousands of reviews around the place but generally the players give better reviews than people who play it once then decide if it's good or bad. So can anyone help me out with the pros/cons of these two games? Online play is a significant factor in this decision as well.

Metal Gear Solid 4 can be said to be a shooter and an action game if you are into that. I dont have a ps3 myself so I can't give you a whole list of them MGS4 has to be even one of my recommended games. And I heard Battlefield Bad Company is very fun, much better than the old BF Games. Never Played Rainbow Six Games so I can't say

I don't think any battlefield game will beat 1942, not for me at least. :P
I was never a fan of metal gear solid and haven't bothered to play much of it. I've also heard that MGS4 is more of a movie than a game with the cut-scenes and all.

One could say that but it's an epic ride none the less and defiantly worth the purchase, sorry I couldn't add to what you actually were looking for

If you don't like games with long cutscenes don't bother with MGS4 it's got some really long cutscenes. I think you should get Rainbow Six Vegas 2 it's a really good game.
