3 men go to a motel for a room. Rooms are $30 so they each pay $10 to make it even. After they go to their room, the manager realizes it was supposed to be $25. Knowing that they can't split it evenly, he puts $2 in his pocket and gives them each $1 back... so they actually paid $9 each.
Now think about this...
9 (the money they each paid) x3 (number of people paying)=27
27+2 (the money in his pocket)=29
Where's the missing dollar?!
Weird huh?

I'm anxious to find out then... I plan on asking my math teacher.

$30 payment - $5 change = $25 payment.
$25 payment + $2 "taken money" = $27 payment.
$27 payment / 3 people = $9 payment / person.
Multiplying $9 by 3 already yields the cost of the room plus the taken money, so it makes no sense to add $2. The only remaining money is their change of $3.

You're so smart, lol.
