A boozed-up Bronx woman killed her aunt and injured two other relatives when she plowed a pickup truck through a family picnic at a Long Island water park, authorities said yesterday.

Yerardin Gil, 20, was held on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty to DWI charges in a Riverhead Town courtroom.

Cops said she could face more serious charges for allegedly killing her 43-year-old aunt, Rosa Ortiz, on Sunday when she drove a Chevrolet Avalanche in the parking lot of Splish Splash water park in Riverhead.

Prosecutors said that Gil, a cashier at a Yonkers restaurant, guzzled Corona beers before getting behind the wheel of the massive truck and drove roughly eight to 12 feet when she accidentally struck three relatives who were eating on a grassy patch in front of her.

"She's very upset, she's very regretful, and she's trying to come to terms with what she did," said her court-appointed attorney, William Ferris.

1) why is the family letting a drunk get behind the wheel
2) In the opinion of this member those things where you have to breath in to start the car should be mandatory, I bet DUI deaths would fall by like 40%

I definitely agree with you about the breath-start car.
Why don't they do that? It only makes sense.

That poor family.
How can she even begin to plead not guilty?

That sucks for Rosa.
Though I agree with the "wtf why are family letting her get behind the wheel plz". Everyone who saw her drink, and saw her go to her truck are to blame as well. It's a family picnic so I doubt no one would have seen her drinking, and she must have told someone she was leaving.

In my opinion, this was totally preventable.
