The game will be called Active Life: Outdoor Challenge when it comes to the States this summer. Each copy of the game will include a foldable mat controller very similar to a Dance Dance Revolution pad or, for the old-school, Nintendo's own Power Pad peripheral. The mat plugs into a GameCube controller port. It's not as "sensitive" as the Wii Balance Board coming out with Wii Fit, as the Active Life pad is just a bunch of digital buttons that activate with pressure from the feet.

Well, the Wii came out, you know? And the first thing off the top of your head when you think about Wii is using your body to play the video game. And, 21 years ago, that was the only game that let you use the body. So, we get the concept from both sides, and that's why we decided to bring it back to Wii.

Gamasutra: Earlier we spoke about how this has an origin with the NES, and the Wii has a nostalgia factor, and Nintendo is expanding its audience back to what it was meant to be in the NES era. Is that an influence on the decision to make this kind of game as well?

SM: Of course! Of course, our target is exactly the same as Nintendo's target, and they brought them back from the past to now. Back in the day, good gamers, non-hardcore gamers, and hardcore gamers used to play together and have fun. That was the whole point. So, even if you're really good at playing Halo, a little kid may be able to beat the guy who's good at Halo, in this game. So, that's what it is.

If there are people who want to create a game using the mat, or publishers who want to release a game using the mat, we're definitely open to that.

I like the artstyle but boourns at a another peripheral, seriously a active Wii owner is going to have like 100

Like 100 different attachments for it?
Yea, I know.
I gave up on it when they started the wheel. I'm not buying anymore, lol.

I heard about this somewhere before but I can't quite place it.
Can't say that I'm too interested,I'd rather wait for WII sport: Resort,It comes with the 1:1 motion upgrade.

And I cannot be bothered to buy another pheriphal, I swear that nintendo make more money on pheriphels than they do with games.
