PHOENIX -- A judge sentenced a man to 848 1/2 years in prison, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced Monday.

On Friday, Judge Maria del Mar Verdin handed 18 life sentences, five 20-year sentences, seven 17-year sentences, four 5-year sentences, and nine 1 1/2-year sentences to James Wallace Galloway, 52, said Mike Scerbo, a spokesman for the county attorney's office.

Galloway was convicted on 43 counts relating to the sexual abuse and molestation of minor children, furnishing obscene material to children and public sexual indecency, Scerbo said.

Galloway, who moved from Phoenix to Havetown, Penn., in late summer 2003, was arrested by Havetown police on Aug. 19, 2004. He was extradited to Arizona on Sept. 7 of that year, and a Maricopa County grand jury returned a 48-count indictment, Scerbo said.

sentence serves him..too bad he won't even come close to serving even close to that, 5% if he's still lucky to be alive 40 years later...

he'll definitely be hated in prison too, no one likes people that sexually abuse kids...lowest of the prison hierarchy

Woah!

I am so glad I have the mind to say no to the wrong things so I don't spend 848 and a half years

I really think that handing out sentencing that's won't ever be able to be served is just dumb, just give him life without parole have a beer bang your wife go to bed done day another scum in jail. This reminds me of that doctor who got a 2k yr sentence for injecting 200+ ppl with Hepatitis C

lol, its the judicial system's way of saying that you'll never get out..if somehow he can get parole from one sentence, he'll have a lot more to do...

Woah, thats ridiculas, I wouldn't think that long though, maybe for like 5+ murders, where my mum works (care home) a old women killed her husband because he cheated on her, she got 40 years, now she's in a care home! But it serves that guy right 43 counts and a variety of child molestation, sexual abuse, ect... He's really gonna be hatted as LiNuX said.

Lol, I told my mom about it and asked why not just life sentence.
Apparently, since his crimes were only 20 year, 17, 15 ect. sentences, he can't be charged with life because none of his crimes were bad enough to reach that.

Also if he was just sentanced to life this story wouldnt have been as big in the media. (imo)

I'm sure this sentance got alot of peoples attention. I'd like to hear what Chris Hanson has to say!

I think it's more dramatic and satisfying that way.
The guy gets what he deserves, and probably a lifetime beating from the prisoners.
They definitely don't like child molesters.
