A Muslim is suing Tesco for religious discrimination after he was asked to carry crates of beer on his fork-lift truck.
Mohammed Ahmed, 32, who was raised in strict Saudi Arabia, worked in one of the store's warehouses for eight months before quitting "in protest", a tribunal heard.
He claims he left his job in Lichfield, Staffs, after bosses refused to accept handling alcohol offended his beliefs.
He alleged one said: "You do the job or go home."
Mr Ahmed, of Derby, said he did not know when he took the job he would handle alcohol. Tesco denied discrimination. The hearing goes on.

"You do the job or go home."

Sounds about right to me. If you can't perform a portion of a job because it interferes with your faith, go home and don't go back. But suing? Wow, if he wins...

you do know that frivolous cases have been around since the start of the judiciary system?

and this is a civil suit, it doesn't affect AMERICA or its ECONOMY

as a matter of fact it actually helps because they have to buy lawyer services which in turn puts them to work as well as their secretaries and paralegals

but you don't have an argument there imo lol, suing a private company for a few thousand dollars is not gonna end the world. i doubt he'll get more than a few thousand

and also you should know this happened in the UK lol, not the US :)

Call me a Southern Christian Republican but!

People of other religions do not bother me but people like this guy make me sick. If you did not want to put your hands on something you should have not have started the job. If this man was hurt someway by the beer or something else I would say more power to him.

If the company was to force him to touch the beer or anything else his religion told him not to then I would say ok that fine. But it was on his on free will.

I also would like to add that he really did not touch the beer with his body or what he was wearing but pick it up with a forklift

now im gonna argue back with your previous argument lol - you said the economy is bad right?you should know that more and more people are losing their jobs everyday, he probably has a family to support and couldn't afford to lose his job otherwise they'd be thrown on the street

and also he probably didn't think of suing until much later and probably after consulting a lawyer

and no, not free will, he was told he'd lose his job if he didn't, it was an ultimatum, he obviously didn't want to lose his job, that could have been catastrophic for his family

That's a wordly attitude though.

It can be found more in some places than others, but money runs the world.
