According to this dude, the US government is setting it's own country up for a hunger crysis that's about to emerge...

I think the united states economy is going to start to bounce back next year. Of course I've got no idea how bad it is going to get before it bounces back butI dont things are going to get that bad.

That really depends if they help the auto industry, if they don't that's several million job gone in many sectors and the country will be ****ed for a while. I don't know about Ford and Chrysler but GM only has enough money to stay alive till around June 09 if there losses remain the same.

i agree with jak, they bailed out big businesses and now they need to go after the oligopolies

but when they gave the money to AIG Direct - the executives of the company had like a quarter million dollar party, read it somewhere, not sure of the figure but yea they had a very expensive party using the money - pathetic...hopefully these car guys won't be as pathetic.

also read the Obama is pushing to send help to the auto companies and we were discussing that a bit yesterday in class

I thought it was like 400k party but yeah very wasted money, pretty sure I read Goldman Sachs used a big portion of there money to give out multi million dollar bonuses. Why is there no one regulating there spending? If there is, why isn't there penalty's . These people are partying on tax payer money

yea it was something in the XXX,XXXs - dont remember the number exactly, read it weeks ago

and yea I remember reading about the multi-million dollar bonuses, OR I think my political science professor told us - crappy memories lol...not stuff I want to remember so meh..

and i agree, they need to have some penalties on the misuse of the bailout money, they can get back like a billion dollars back if they target every little misuse - our economy is already in the craphole where we have some really rich people and some really poor people, they are just using the money we gave to them to stimulate the economy to get richer and give nothing in return, makes me sick

Yeah they gave millions to HBOS here and HBOS had a £400,000 party and the bank managers are getting bonuses of something like 1.3 million.

The car guys are pathetic, that's why they aren't getting the money. They've shown that they don't learn from past mistakes.

They also flew to their hearing in private jets!

What would like them to do? drive? Really the people make a big deal about them flying in on jets are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Some are saying they should sell them as there unneeded, but really they are as they have to fly around the world doing there business in a timely fashion

haha and risk being late to the govt meeting or risk being late to important business meeting, it'd be nice if people looked at the bigger picture instead of just going with the they suck at business then the free market prevail and let them sank

I'm sure it could get bad... but with Obama going to be our next President, we won't fall as hard as we could. If McCain would have won (no offense to anyone), I think many more people would go hungry.
