I have a Dell studio 1735 laptop with vista home premium
3gb RAM memory, 32-bit operating system
with intel (R) core (TM)2 duo core T5750 @ 2.00ghz 2.00ghz

how does it rate? good enough for games? its really new and runs fast :-)

well I've never been a fan of Dell or Vista lol - and if you get vista get something other than home premium, im currently on Vista business or something and its much better than home premium

But the others are good, Core 2 duo, 3 gb ram is very good, and yea its good for gaming but I wou ldn't recommend you get a laptop for gaming because they tend to overheat quickly and unlike a desktop, the compact space makes it harder for the hot air from your CPU and RAM to get out and that can damage your hardware.

I'm not sure if the Processor is big enough to run some games. CoD WaW requirements are a 3.0 and you only have a 2.0.

I agree with linux though, you shouldn't really game on a laptop.

gaming specs specify only single core, unless they say otherwise and a dual core should be able to handle the games

I always thought that a duo core ran at the same speed as a regular cpu. For example a 3.0 cpu and a 3.0 duo core cpu run at the same speeds, but the duo is able to run more programs at once. I never read anything on it, that's just what I thought happened.

dual core means it has 2 CPUs - if it says 2.5 GHZ Dual core then its 2.5+2.5 cores - they can share the programs to run and it is able to run more programs because there is a second CPU dealing with the extra programs - quad core is like having 4 computers in one in terms of processing :)

We have a close spec system.
Except mine is 2.2 ghz and 2.2 ghz. 4.4 ghz in total.
But, your laptop won't be able to hold games like Crysis. Because mine couldn't.

I'm not so much a fan of a Laptop since I'm only staying must of the time at home, I'm prefer desktop computer.
I bought a computer from Alienware, run really fast and they also have a good Laptop there I think. :P
