Battlefield 1942 installation failure! Help me please!

Hello, I hope that this thread is being posted in the right place, because I'm new here ^^

Ok, to the problem. I'm a huge BF1942 fan, and my computer just crashed. My dad got his hands on an old school-computer, and I'm trying to install BF on it. I should be able to play Bf on it, the only concern is how high my ping will be. :)

When I'm installing the game, it works fine until the Aberdeen mapfile cant be found. I think it's about now "InstallShield Wizard" should ask about CD2, but it isn't. It shows a message, which I will post really soon, I need to get going and BF takes a few minutes to install.

I've never had any problems with installing or running Battlefield 1942 before. Have you had the same problem? Or do anybody know a way to fix it?

Ping has nothing to do with how good your computer is. Well mostly nothing - the ping is the latency which is the delay between your internet and the network the server is on.

And if you're installing from a cd and it doesn't ask for CD2, you should put CD2 in any way and see if it continues.

and Poll is just a poll...you have options and people vote, it isn't necessary.

I've tried changing CD's, but it doesnt work.

This is the message: "Specified component cannot be found in the media. An attempt was made to access a component that does not exist in the named media."

It sounds like the component is in the second CD, doesn't it?

thx, I guess that will help. I don't have time to test it all right now. But I guess there are problems with the drive. Thanks for the help!
Just one thing, In the link, it says that you should go to run and type cmd and then typ xcopy DiscDrive:\*.* HardDiskDrive:\cdtest /v /e in the command prompt. It also says that you should type what letter your drive is instead of DiscDrive, and the same with HardDiskDrive (exept that you should type what letter your Hard Disk Drive is here). But it doesn't work. Should I type the filename that starts the program instead of *.*? (setup.exe or something) Is that right? I can't test because I can't "explore" the cd.
(I'm sorry if my english fails at this point. :) )
