GF Upgrade Scheduled - March 3, 2012

We will finally be upgrading to vB4 and the plan is to do it on Monday. The look will completely change since we will not be able to use any of our current themes with the new version. The forum may go down for maintenance for the entire day, I have never done an upgrade this big so I can't say how long it will take.

What can you expect after the upgrade?

• The forum will look different.
  
• The GFP system will be completely redone.
  
• The GF Image Host and GF Bank will be removed as mentioned a few months ago
  
• The Casino will be reinstalled as well.
  
• Awards will be temporarily disabled.

If you have any questions about the upgrade, feel free to ask in this thread. I will be in the GF IRC Channel on Monday to take any questions then (if I'm looking).

Dang, I loved the image host. I guess I'll be imgur exclusive

You won't have 0 GFP, but it's being rebooted so that people don't have exorbitant amounts (like Linux ~_~) :P

I'm not positive on the details, though.

Will the gfp in the bank be added to our gfp out of the bank?

You can use your profile's album to host images. That's the main reason why we've shut down the image host - the creator of the mod stopped support for it when the albums came out, and the mod won't work on vb4 anyway.

I was planning on disabling it completely for about a week or so and then working on an algorithm to give a calculated GFP to people that are still active (who requests it).

That's the plan. Will see how things go tomorrow.

The GFP that we've put in the bank, will that disappear or will we still have it? Or is all GFP being reset and we all get a set amount?

I think she means is the GFP inside the bank going to removed from the bank and placed on the person or just deleted entirely. But I think you pretty much answered for yourself after she posted about creating a system where wealth redistribution of gfp would take place in a sort of start over mode in the gfp ecosystem. <watchlemonpostedasimpostingthis>
