What is your favorite RPG game?
What is your favorite RPG game you have ever played, can be an MMORPG or just an offline RPG.
Mine would be WoW
and for offline, any of the elder scrolls.
-
Runescape for me, I've been playing it for about 5 months now, its a good game.
-
Online: WoW
Offline: Tales of Symphonia.
Might switch to GuildWars 2 when it comes out though, if it's not monthly fee like the first.
-
Online: Diablo 2. fun game, though i've never played it the way it's meant to be played
Offline: Legend of Dragoon, though I've played it too many times I need a new console RPG to go on about
-
I've never played an MMORPG before. The closest to one of those, that I've played, would be White Knight Chronicles, but that's kind of like an MMO/JRPG hybrid. There's a standard offline storyline, but you can play quests with people online.
My favorite RPG of all time would be Shadow Hearts: Covenant, but I like the entire series as a whole, really.
-
Mine:
Offline:Either Baldurs gate which is super old lol or Mount&blade Warband
-
I really enjoyed Oblivion until my game broke :P I have never played WoW or runescape though
-
PC: Planescape: Torment, Diablo 2, WoW... concolse: Breath of Fire.. arcade: Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
-
Favorite RPG series: Grandia
Favorite RPG: Earthbound
Favorite Strategy RPG series: Disgaea
Favorite Strategy RPG: Final Fantasy: Tactics
Lunar, Golden Sun, and Persona series are some personal faves too.
-
The OLD Pokemon series
Mass Effect Series
LoZ series
Fallout 3
-
Actually you can't say how many favorite games, but every Japanese RPG games.
Favorite RPG: The Legend of Heroes IV: Sora No Kiseki
Favorite Strategy RPG series: Disgaea
It's looks I found some retro gamers here :laugh1:

I couldn't appreciate retro games anymore than I already do. I salivate every time I look at a factory sealed ChronoTrigger game and I'm sure if I found an unopened Earthbound game there would be seals preventing it's release into the mortal realm that can't be spoken in human tongue.. yeah.. I just went there.
-
To be honest I never finish off the last boss in Chrono Trigger, have been stuck on it for like forever.
Yeah probably going to pick up Earthbound game again, it was a fun and interesting game.
I got a bunch of RPG stuck ahead that need to play. xD

Of all time or new release?
Of all time: Final Fantasy X
New Release: Dragon Age 2
I also like Disgaea, Golden Sun, Final Fantasy Tactics, anything with a good Turn Based Battle system and good story I enjoy haha :)

Try 179 RPGs waiting to be played. -.- That's how many I own that I have yet to beat all the way through. I didn't mean for it to work out that way, it's just companies like Atlus, NISamerica, and many other developers starting making all kinds of different RPGs or incorporating RPG-elements in their games. Every time I'd my usual rounds in the game and used-game stores, I didn't leave empty handed. lol Iv'e been trying to fix that habit though.. not working.
-
I Have yet to get inside 'Sin' on FFX -.- it took me like a Month to pass Seymor (for the 4th time lol)

You take a long while on games too? I know it can be easy for me, at least on certain games, to obtain over 100 hours because I grind, find all items, weapons, armors, and secret bosses I can find and Final Fantasy (minues XIII ._.) always came through there. Sometimes I find a perfect spot to grind, I spend weeks there just levelings.. then I end up having to take a break for the game... thus never finishing it. XD
-
Yeah Plus with most of the FF series you have more party members then you can have in one party, so you grind with one set of people, then get to the next boss fight and you realise One of your other members would be better suited for the battle so you go back and grind for another few weeks, but yeah I still have about 5 more PS2 games to complete, (FFXII, FFX-2, ect.) :)

Lol Me toooo! Ah, just another game to add to the not finished list :P
-
My favourite is probably Final Fantasy IX. ^w^
I don't really care much for online RPGs, they just never have appealed to me. Then again I've only tried a couple... Meh.
-
you know, I cant really have a say, cause.... well, I just like one that has a GOOD story, not like a cliffhanger one, or just 'everything's back to normal' you know? a typical one isn't right, I want something different, but yes, something with a GOOD story.
-
PC: Baldurs gate 2
I spent so many hours on this game re rolling characters tweaking the game with hex editors its such a blast nothing delivers what this game did Dragon Age 1 came close but i found most of the gear pretty ugly and lack of class options was a little upsetting I think the the DnD character creation would have made Dragon Age infinity better.
Console: Final Fantasy 7
My first real RPG it sits as my favorite RPG by nostalgia alone at this point not a lot to say about this if you didn't grow up with it it might be a little hard for you to appreciate now but back then this game was just amazing.

Love both of these games- especially Baulder's Gate... just DLed it actually- been missing it and having played it in ages :)
-
Right now, I'd have to say, Dragon Age: Origins. Just something really great about that game. I haven't played a game that immersive in a long time. It really makes you feel like your part of the story.
-
-
There is 2 i cant quite decide between.
Final Fantasy 9 or Tales of Symphonia, not just because of the story and game play of them but because they were 2 of the first RPGs i had ever played. bringing me into this new magical world was an amazing feeling at the time.

If you want I can list some games you want or take a look at the official list on this section. I have plenty and will try to review them all for those that don't know the games. :)
-
Offline: oblivion
MMOG: Runescape (its the only one i played)
-
The Elder Scrolls series, hands down. Can't say an MMORPG, I don't really play any.
-
Online: Definitely WoW, no competition
Offline: Seems to change often, it just depends on what I'm playing at the moment. And that currently is Pokemon White
-
I have few in the collection and waining in the queue to be completed, could a few that need a start. But the ones I do like are:
Elder Scrolls
Dragon Age: Origins
Oblivion
-
offline for me is final fantasy 7 and 10 were the best
online dark souls just for how hard it is
-
-
I just got out Baldur's Gate recently for the first time in ages :P
-
Mine would have to be baldurs gate. Best DnD game on the computer ever!
-
I dunno.... Planescape: Torment is pretty close is awesomeness ;)
-
I'll have to check out planescape. Never heard of it before actually.
-
Final Fantasy 12 or Legend of the Dragoon.
Demon Souls/Dark Souls
-
Arcanum, Suikoden 2, FF7, Shadow hearts
-
Offline: Final Fantasy VI
Online: .......maplestory.......(i know, i know)
Series: I have finished every final fantasy but 2 and 3. It has its ups and downs but as a whole you can't go wrong with that group of games.
-

That is such a good game. Nordom is one of my favorite characters in a game ever.
-
Haha, yea he's awesome. Im glad someone else has played this! Most people have never even heard of it... I like Morte, he's such a smartass xD
-
I just noticed that the threads title is wrong! The Creator put RPG games and the g in RPG is game!

I used to play it back in the day and just recently installed it again. Morte is pretty BA as well
-
My favorite game is D2,its my first RPG.

Ya know… now that I think about…. Im not sure I ever actually *completed* the game. Played it dozens of times, dozen of ways…. I think last time I played I got banished to some other world where there tonssss of beasts that were wayyyy stronger then me and beat my @ss xD
-
Haha yeah certain parts get ridiculously hard. I beat it a couple of times. I played and beat Arcanum a lot more times than I could ever for planescape
-
I think it's a toss up between Dragon Age and Summoner. But I think I like dragon age so much because it reminds me of Summoner so...
-
online would have to be WoW and offline id say skyrim
-
I've been playing WoW a good deal recently. Sad when a dungeon gives me three levels.
-
I've always been a big fan of Legend of Dragoon, but Demon's Souls is up there too. That game was amazing. Dark Souls is okay, but has nothing on Demon's.
Diablo 2 is my favorite online game. Of course, I tend not to have the money to spend on MMO's or the computers required to run them
-

I don't have it anymore :\ but my account name I use for Blizzard stuff (which means D2LOD and Starcraft) is SamuraiX_ and I always go USeast
-
I'd sad Ragnarok Online has always been the best! But since it's all an old story, WoW kept me playing for quite some time and now I'm onto RIFT and I pretty much like it. Mostly the class system :)
-
World of Warcraft
Heroes of Newerth
-
Favorite of all Time.......Earthbound SNES.
No idea why just something about that game lol love it, but there are so many i could chose from.
-
Haven't played many. Would have to say LoD with Chrono Trigger coming in a close 2nd.
-
offline the first final fantasy x
-
Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden 1 and 2. FF4,5,6,7. Chrono Cross/Trigger. I CAN'T NAME JUST ONE!
-
Gothic 1+2 (with NotR)
Risen
The Witcher 2
Xenoblade Chronicles
TES4: Oblivion
-
I would have to say either Runescape, or Pokèmon Fire Red. both are endlessly fun. (:
I will always miss RS 2006 though. :,(
-
-
Offline: I don't really play much console at this point but Zelda has been nice.
Online: I've played several, but for nostalgic reasons and what introduced me to this genre is Runescape... It does help that no MMORPG has been able to match its unique style of playing.
-
What is with people thinking runescape is an RPG, you cant attribute the title of favorite Role playing game, a legendary title for games that traditionally have deep story and character development, to an MMO. Any MMO would be unacceptable. Especially Runescape.
Thats coming from the guy who has played F2P since classic, stamina points and open dueling, sleeping bag using, pure prayer begging from demon campers in the wilderness for lols, ranked under 200 for archery on another character at one point guy who wasted to much of his life on that game. Not some joeblow who never played.
I dont normally recommend emulators but you kids desperately need to play some Mario RPG, crono trigger, or even legend of dragoon!

You are I are on the same page ma friend. RPGs aren't like the classics anymore at all. I use my PS3 to buy PSone classics and play them with smoothed graphics.
-
Elder Scrolls and Legend of Dragoon
-
PC: WoW and Diablo II
Console: Borderlands, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Skyrim, Final Fantasy...and don't laugh, but I thought the paper mario games were actually pretty decent too.
-
The paper Mario games were pretty fun. You should try morrowind if you like the elder scrolls
-
I've heard Morrowind is the best game in the elder scrolls series.
-
Morrowind has to be my favorite of the series. I just find it more fun and open. If they remade it with current graphics that would be pretty epic. I would buy that and a new computer to play it on
-

you heard that from people that started playing the series with morrowind. Everyone who started with the game before that will tell you daggerfall was better.
Anyone who started with Oblivion will tell you that is the best game in the series.
Take a guess what people who started with skyrim think.

very good point! I started with oblivion. I was liking skyrim quite a bit until i caught vampiritis! WOW...what a spoiler of fun... haha...i have since gotten rid of it and back on the path to saving the world of skyrim from doom...
I will be taking a break from skyrim when Mass Effect 3 comes out...can't wait.
-
There are a lot of RPG's out there I absolutely love, but there's nothing I love more than dusting off a good ol' Pokemon game. I've played and replayed every version I have at least 3 times each. :D

I started with oblivion then played arena, daggerfall then morrowind and I still think Morrison's was the best. Oblivion wasn't terribly fun compared to the others but I thought it was beautiful when it came out
-
I started with Oblivion as well. Actually the only older one I've played. Didn't like it for the same reasons I didn't like Skyrim >_<

-
My favorite online and offline RPG game must be Neverwinter Nights 2 - and I must say that I am really looking forward to the upcomming Nights of Neverwinter.
In general most D&D rpg games are good, the old " Icewind Dale " and Baldurs Gate i found very entertaining as well
-
I forgot Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas - I think it is probably the most awesome first-person rpg game i have ever played, a shame it wasn't made as a multiplayer game as well.

Still pretty sweet. Let's hope they don't manage to f it up
-
Agreed. Not as awesome, but still sweet :P
-
Hmmm favorite RPG? Just one? Idk probably the first one I ever played. Legend of the Dragoon. I actually got it for my brother thinking it would be something else ( I was idk how old). I really loved FF-XII despite so many people disliking it.
-
Final Fantasy X-2 or Final Fantasy 12?
-
-
I liked FF XII... wasn't the typical FF in some bad ways, but overall I didn't think it was horrible.
-
I really liked the grambit system. It allowed me to farm for hours and I did not have to be in the room :p
-
Zelda and Paper Mario for me ^^
-
Legend of Zelda & Elders Scrolls.
-
-
-
Online: Just ex samp RPG server by Reloaded Gaming.
Offline: Mount&Blade series (all thou i like Mount &Blade 1 somewhat more than M&B With fire and sword.)
More offline: Fallout 3 and Fallout NV , next is TES: Oblivion (gave me 6 month of fun) and ugh i would tell Skyrim but i just cant swallow how they buchered your journal meni. The menu looks like its made for ****ing Android or some touchscreen technology.
-
WoW is hardly an RPG, if you want a real RPG check out some of the oldies like elder scrolls or never winter nights.
