    .hack//frägment is a multiplayer online game based on the fictional MMORPG portrayed in the .hack franchise. It was made as a joint project by Bandai and CyberConnect2. It was released in Japan on November 23, 2005. The online service for .hack//frägment was terminated at the end of November 2006, when the servers were taken offline.

    .hack//G.U. is the title of a series of three video games for PlayStation 2. The first title in the series, Vol.1 Rebirth, was released on Japan on May 18, 2006 and on October 24, 2006 in North America. Vol.2 Reminisce was released on September 28, 2006 in Japan and on May 8, 2007 in North America. Vol.3 Redemption was released on January 18, 2007 in Japan and on September 10, 2007 in North America. .hack//G.U Trilogy the movie, was released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 25, 2008 in Japan.

    The games take place after the .hack//Roots anime series. .hack//Roots serves as a prologue to the G.U. video game series in the same way the .hack//Sign anime series served as a prologue to the four original .hack//Games.

    .hack//Infection (.hack//感染拡大Vol.1, dotto hakku//Kansen Kakudai Boryūmu Wan?, lit. .hack//Infection Spreading Vol.1) is the first part in a series of four PlayStation 2 video games based within the .hack universe. The game simulates an MMORPG entitled The World and accomplishes this without requiring the player to ever actually venture online. The game is part of a serial storyline, with each of the four games slowly released over the course of a little over a year. .hack//Infection's storyline continues in .hack//Mutation, which is followed by .hack//Outbreak and .hack//Quarantine.

    Each installment of the game is accompanied by a DVD containing an episode of the .hack//Liminality OVA series. The four episodes happen in the real world, as opposed to the fictional MMORPG, The World, in which the game takes place. The events of Liminality take place alongside those of the games.
