If you want a real RPG do some mudding or some pen and paper stuff. If you can find people who will participate it can be some of the most fun you've ever had

    Fallout 3 is my favorite.

But I enjoy Oblivion and Skyrim. I love having huge worlds to explore, and being able to interact with everything in the game's world. I almost exclusively play open world games, and I look forward to the next Bethesda release. It's to the point where I can't even play linear games anymore. I tried playing Haze, but quit after the first level. Simply because there was nothing to do but shoot people and follow a set path. I find that boring and uninspired.

Its very good. But Im going to wait until I have played it more and the expantion(s) come out before I decide where it fits on my list of amazing RPGS.

Also I think its fair to call it a hack and slash. Not to diminish its new focus on story telling, but becasue this series established its own genre.

I'm not sure, but would Dark Souls count as a RPG?
If so, then Dark Souls all the way. I feel in love with it the second I died 20 times against the first boss... before I noticed the door on the left side of the room, Ever since then, I've beaten the game over 10 times with multiple characters. And I an psyched for this new Content that may or may not be released for the Consoles. Though I am quite happy to buy it for the PC just for this new stuff. I think I may be obsessed?

I think it would be because of the leveling system and character building. I agree with Stain though Dark Souls and Demons is on mine. Dragon's Dogma seems to be shaping up to a beast though.

There's so many, it's hard for me to narrow it down to one. I really love Xenogears, it was awesome. And then I also think FF9 was one of the best in the series. All my favorites definitely come from the PS1 though.

RPG's were never my thing until I was given a copy of Oblivion for my birthday. Now? I'm basically obsessed. I was sucked in and now I can't put them down. Oblivion is the most played. I swear I must have logged over 300+ hours on that game. Skyrim (although a slight let down after all the initial hype) was also brilliant. Second most played/favorite would have to be Fallout franchise. Fallout 3 especially.

I dont think RS its consider a RPG game....you dont have RACE and CLASS that's the biggest problem here. You cant customize your stat's like having STR , INT , DEX etc. I know you can lvl up them specifically.

But long story short for not having CLASS and RACES i wont consider it a RPG , as for RPG stands for Role Playing , RS its all rounder actually like TES , there's not fix class or role.

Though i myself play RS too lol , 8th year Veteran here and counting = p

My favorite RPG : Neverwinter Nights 2 , Dragon Age Origin , Dragon Age 2 ,Diablo ( is it even a RPG) , Mass Effect ( if its consider a RPG ) , Skyrim

Dragon Age: Origins is one of the best I've ever played... It's sad that Dragon age II didn't follow up on it's predecessor. Haven't played Planescape torment and I am told it's the best RPG ever.
And the Mass Effect series of curse... Was disappointed with the ending though :/

If you've not played it, it's worth getting. Good graphics and and a great story line with loads of side quests.

My favorite older RPG has always been Legend of Dragoon, but over summer I played through most of Persona 3 (I got bored at the very end, after 150 hours) and really liked that, and I REALLY liked Demons Souls, so I'm thinkin about getting more atlus games...but yeah, I'd say my favorite old school (ps1 and earlier) RPG is still Legend of Dragoon, newer one is Demon's Souls.

I noticed this has not been active for about half a month or so, so I hope I'm not "necro-bumping", but it doesn't seem like there is a great amount of active topics... In any case I'd probably say my favorite older game is Star Ocean: The Second Story or FFV, and my favorite current game is a little harder to decide... For now I'd say either Skyrim or FF7: Crisis Core.

For me it has to be Diablo II.
In my opinion is was the best game in its time, and even today it beats a lot of games!
Love everything about it and it definitely brings back some good ol' memories!
