I would have to say either Runescape, or Pokèmon Fire Red. both are endlessly fun. (:
I will always miss RS 2006 though. :,(

Offline: I don't really play much console at this point but Zelda has been nice.
Online: I've played several, but for nostalgic reasons and what introduced me to this genre is Runescape... It does help that no MMORPG has been able to match its unique style of playing.

What is with people thinking runescape is an RPG, you cant attribute the title of favorite Role playing game, a legendary title for games that traditionally have deep story and character development, to an MMO. Any MMO would be unacceptable. Especially Runescape.
Thats coming from the guy who has played F2P since classic, stamina points and open dueling, sleeping bag using, pure prayer begging from demon campers in the wilderness for lols, ranked under 200 for archery on another character at one point guy who wasted to much of his life on that game. Not some joeblow who never played.
I dont normally recommend emulators but you kids desperately need to play some Mario RPG, crono trigger, or even legend of dragoon!

You are I are on the same page ma friend. RPGs aren't like the classics anymore at all. I use my PS3 to buy PSone classics and play them with smoothed graphics.

Elder Scrolls and Legend of Dragoon

PC: WoW and Diablo II
Console: Borderlands, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Skyrim, Final Fantasy...and don't laugh, but I thought the paper mario games were actually pretty decent too.

The paper Mario games were pretty fun. You should try morrowind if you like the elder scrolls
