Neverwinter

A few friends and I have started playing this new MMORPG which is in Open Beta. I've enjoyed it a lot, the combat system is pretty unique compared to most MMO's. It's more about kiting and positioning then who has stronger gear. The Open Beta just started about a week ago, so most of the community is new. It's free to play, so no monthly subscription, but like all F2P games there is a cash shop. You can obtain everything in the game by farming, so you're not limited.

Just thought I'd share this game, since I've enjoyed it so far. Level cap is currently 60, I'm around 32 so I'm not sure how the end game is yet. Once I get there I'll let everyone know how it is. If you enjoy PVP, then this is a great game for it, probably the best aspect of the game IMO.

If anyone decides to play, I'd recommend the server called Dragon simply because that's the one I play in. :D

Also just an FYI if you do decide to play, make sure when you start specing into your talent tree to choose wisely. Currently it cost 6 dollars to respec, so don't mess up.

Looks interesting. I just started one similar to this called Path of Exile. I think I'll give this one a try. You should check your account to see if there is a referral code or something. If so let me know and I'll use it when I sign up.

I've been playing it a bit, it's a ton of fun. Thanks for the heads up about the talent re-spec. It feels a lot like TERA, but it's not nearly as grindy and repetitive. Finally found that perfect balance between an Action RPG and an MMO.

I can't remember atm, haven't played it in a few days. I have to wait for it to patch so I'll get back to you later ;) I'm not too high level yet though, I think only like level 10 or something.

Played this for the better part of yesterday. I'm really enjoying it so far. Made a Tiefling Great Warrior :D

Hey guys,

The game is actually pretty fun since it has an aim-targeting system and it feels pretty polished!
I was however pretty upset about the gold and crystal "bug" recently. But it's still a nice game!

Are you still playing this game? I finally actually got in to it with a friend this week and have really been enjoying it. A concern I have though is it seems rather easy. We've yet to encounter a dungeon that really provides any challenge. Do the dungeons get more expansive and challenging at some point? I'm hoping it's easy because we're still new.

I am running a Drow Trickster Rogue.
He is a Tiefling Control Wizard.

That was my complaint also. I quit, but my friends that still play (and I believe are at max level) say that the dungeons definitely do get more challenging and that they were even wiping out at times on them.

That's good. I love the controls. It's very fluid but I'm hating how easy it is. We'll probably keep going for awhile because it's still relatively fun. I'm enjoying how many races and classes are available and they seem to be releasing more. They could use more classes.

I agree. It actually is a really decent game, especially for a F2P. I enjoyed it for the time I played it. I think my problem at this point is just that I'm bored with MMO's. I go through those spurts though. I'm sure I'll be back to Neverwinter or Rift eventually :P

I'm sure I'll be at it for a little while. I think my girlfriend might start playing it too which is a win. She seemed pretty interested in it when she saw me starting it the other night. Slowly getting her in to new games. Hooked her with "games that look weird or silly" with borderlands. Now she has a different view on them.

I've tried a lot of other MMO's and I just never seem to like the controls. Used to play Anarchy Online but it's so old and dated.

That's awesome! I hope she likes it too :)

That's the thing about Neverwinter, the controls are weird! But I like them. Took me a little but to get used to them.

No, I haven't played for a while. I was some type of Control Wizard when I did play. Don't think they had the Tiefling part when I Was playing. I'm like level 17 though.

I suspect they have added a good bit since you played. There are currently 7 races and 5 classes to choose one. It would appear there are another 2 classes on the way but what they are and when I have yet to find. Suggested is Scourge Wizard and Ranger. I would love to know when these are coming to decide what I want to do with my second character slot. For now I'll enjoy my Drow Rogue.

It is a good game, I play it. played the old solo neverwinter games to.

I'm really enjoying it. Unfortunately my friend who I started with has lagged behind so he needs to catch up to me in level before we can continue doing dungeons together. On the good side. My girlfriend has really been enjoying it so I can still play often. Finally started getting companions and stuff. I'm surprised how easy it is to get Astral Diamonds which give you access to all the "pay" extras. The game literally is free to play.

I do however need more info to add you. I need your full username. There is the first part that you use to log in to your account and then your character's name. Or you can just add me.

For example. Mine is Ziek88@Zyek88 (fortunately once you've added one character, all others on that persons account show up if they switch to another.)

This is my first character, it's a level 60 rogue. Working on leveling a guardian fighter cause they are few and far and very important for dungeons. sweet i am 28 at the moment with a friend and we can level with you when ever you get on me and him are pretty active we play mornings and nights :D

We've hit a point in this game where the content is slowing. We still really enjoy end game content, getting higher powered gear and such but a notable lack of story content has us looking for a second MMO to play. Not stop this one, but add diversity in to our gaming. Another note, we've also hit a point where it is difficult to get a good group for dungeons and such.

@Blinky, I never heard back from you about the account to add. Would like to add you in game if you and your friend is still playing. We both have alts we've been leveling and are on pretty often. Probably would be more if we could get good groups for dungeons and such a bit easier. Anyone else interested in joining us let me know.

We will probably be mostly active on Tera for a bit though aside from late game dungeons and such. For me I only have 2 games I really play so it's easier to keep up on them. This and League.

Big things happening in neverwinter. That "end game content slowing" is being handled and handled well. New zone recently released with some pretty fantastic changes compared to prior zones. Basically fans are asking and they are receiving. The update schedule has sped up too. No longer 1 or 2 a year but now every 3 months. New race and class is expected for the next patch.

If anyone was thinking about getting back in to this game it's showing promise. Also, let me know. I'm on pretty often.

* The new zone has a section of open world PvP. It's well done so if you do not wish to participate you don't have to however for those that do hilarious douchebaggery can be accomplished. People are generally willing to hide around corners as you bait an unsuspecting enemy to follow you thinking they will easily kill you then suddenly that 2v1 becomes a delightful 10v2.
