    is it possible.....?
hey guys. is it possible to hook you xbox 360 to your laptop? ok bc i have been wanting to make videos of me playing for a while and i dont want to spend a lot on a capture card, but if i need one i will get one. but if i can, do you think i could have a double sided USB cord and hook it up to my laptop form my xbox 360? and then use a recording program? (if you also no a good, free or cheap recording program that would be great too)

you should be able to do it but a 360 is like a computer itself because it has a hard drive, right?

well the best way to record console gaming is with a digital camera - works best with LCD TVs and a good digital camera - i have done it in the past - hooking it up to your pc is just more complicated and Not many people do that, i would have no idea where to get cables for that - and just for having a male-male USB cable won't do much because you still need a software to recognize the connection

edit: please don't open duplicate threads, next time you'll just get infracted for this, one thread is enough!

Your 360 should be able to hook up to your computer.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's a special section for the on your dashboard.. or something to that effect.

yea mine has a hard drive.

but for the video camera do you just set it up in front of the screen? because i have tried that and it doesnt look nice. and my camera and tv arent the best out there.

do u have any suggestions on a cheap way like a decent capture card or something

dont know any good capture cards :(

and about the camera and tv - yes put your camera in front of your TV, if you don't have a LCD TV, it'll look like crap, you also need a good digital camera, something around 5-6 megapixels - i use an 8 megapixel camera for mine

    it turns out perfect

You don't get the running lines when you record on your TV?
Or do the different megapixels help that?

nope, i have an lcd tv - im sure u saw my GHIII vid- that was just an example. of course youtube lowered the quality big time but looking at the real file on my computer, it looks great

CRT TVs (the tube tvs) usually give you those lines and megapixels help with clarity because they can capture more light coming their way

I have an LCD, I've just never recorded anything on it with a camera.
So I had no idea that that doesn't really happen anymore.

you should do a test run to see if it works or not lol - it craps up on the CRT my parents still have in their bedroom, but the LCD in my living room is also an HDTV making things even better lol

i think plasma TVs gives you those lines that run up and down

since you said the 360 is like a computer with hard drive. is there a way it can save videos on it or record it within it then transfer it to the computer?

No, Microsoft currently doesn't have a program for that yet. My guess is that it may come in the future, but I wouldn't wait on it.
