Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama
Quote:
WASHINGTON – Colin Powell, a Republican who was President Bush's first secretary of state, endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president Sunday and criticized the tone of Republican John McCain's campaign.
Powell said both Obama and Republican John McCain are qualified to be commander in chief. But he said Obama is better suited to handle the nation's economic problems as well as help improve its standing in the world.
"It isn't easy for me to disappoint Sen. McCain in the way that I have this morning, and I regret that," Powell, interviewed on NBC's "Meet the Press," said of his longtime friend, the Arizona senator.
"But I firmly believe that at this point in America's history, we need a president that will not just continue, even with a new face and with the changes and with some maverick aspects, who will not just continue basically the policies that we have been following in recent years," Powell said.
"I think we need a transformational figure. I think we need a president who is a generational change and that's why I'm supporting Barack Obama, not out of any lack of respect or admiration for Sen. John McCain."

Obama has been getting a lot of endorsements lately - i believe it was the Daily News that endorsed him earlier as well.
Less than 3 weeks to go, he's coming up on an inevitable victory assuming McCain does nothing to improve. And seems Jacob is gonna go live in another country....

I would love to see a black President but so help me god Barack Obama is not the right person. No one would sell out there party like that. He is a Republican leader he would only change his reasons to see a black man President. He needs to see that blacks/whites are seen as the same now and will always be that way. In this day and age there will be many more black candidates and he needs to save his money and vote for that right person. Not a muslin.
But it is a free Country and its his money and vote and time.
Jacob.

it is a free country, you're right about that, but wtf do you have against muslims? Don't know if you noticed but this isn't the 1800s anymore - the constitution also guarantees freedom of religion, so what does it matter if a christian, jew, or muslim guy becomes president?
i'm hoping ur not part of the KKK or something..

gotta stop contradicting yourself over and over again
in your last post you clearly said that a muslim is NOT the right person to be a president and now you are saying you have nothing bad to say about them? you
p.s. KKK is not racist only towards blacks, they are a white supremacy group, they hate everybody else
-
I think I would like to see obama win it. I didn't really read or watch to much about it, because I can't vote. But, to me it sounds like McCain is to much like bush and he will lead us father into the depression.

Sarah Palin was also a horrible pick, she disagreed with McCain so much during the campaign that you can actually laugh at the whole republican party. She doesn't even agree where McCain should campaign and the other day during one of their interviews where she and mccain was both there, she disagreed with him right there lol, and McCain had to say "she can say what she wants" or something like that...
as for myself, I get to vote and you can bet I'm going for Obama, I am not a HUGE fan but he is a change - I can tell you that both candidates are liars and are promising things they can never deliver, but hey..its politics

LOL - dude, that means that you have something against Muslims. why else would you leave the US if one becomes a president?
I suggest you start packing and head for Mexico or something because obama is winning
and FYI, Obama said he is not muslim countless times

Yea candidates always say they are going to do huge things, but don't even try for them. It will always happen, will never change.
@ Jacob
Obama was born in the USA and he has to be to even run for president. Even if he was raised by a Muslim family, it doesn't mean he's evil. That goes along with all the other Muslims that live over sea's. A lot of them just want the same thing we have or something along the lines.

i heard about this and im not that surprised
-
LOL @ "I don't hate muslims, I just hate them."
Mccain's campaign is quite lol-worthy and palin was a horrible, horrible mistake XD
-
Actually, I think getting Palin was the best thing he could of done. He would be way behind if he didn't have Palin.
