    Default Gothic II (PC)

If you're up for a challenge--and you don't mind trial and error--Gothic II won't hesitate to give it to you.

    ~Gamepot.com

Gothic II is a sequel to the first Gothic game where you continue your journey as a nameless character and must fight orcs, goblins, and other creatures including Dragons!

You still must join one of three camps that are similar to the type of camps in the first Gothic game.

The control system for Gothic II has been much improved and, for those who got used to and like the controls for Gothic, the controls are interchangeable between the old controls from Gothic, and the new ones.

The graphics in this game have been improved but still aren't amazing compared to other games.

This skills in this game are much improved. Now when you increase your sword skill your fighting style changes depending on how skilled you are making a more realistic type of fighting style.

Expect to die often. As sad as this may sound until you learn what you can and can't handle in Gothic II you will most likely die often or spend a lot of your time running away!

The wilderness is even more dangerous in Gothic II than in the first Gothic game. You'll be running through the forest killing wolves and could unexpectedly come upon an Orc, Shadowbeast, or even a troll!

The camera system has been improved in Gothic II as well. Instead of the permanent third person view you can now change between first and third person. Third person combat can make the game mildly harder as it's hard to judge when to attack and timing is everything especially when fighting with a melee weapon. You don't have to time it to maintain a successful hit. You will hit your target when you swing at it unless they move. But timing is good to get the first hit on your opponent and to successfully block their attacks.

The world is much larger in this game as you are not restricted to a mining colony and there are maps available but you may have to make your own notes to successfully navigate your way around.

The characters in Gothic II, like in the first Gothic, are quite talkative and will not hesitate to have a conversation with you. You even are stopped and are asked to "have some fun" with some local girls at The Red Lantern!

So if you are up for a challenge with a still mildly awkward combat system then Gothic II may be a great choice of game for you!

Interesting review - the screenie by screenie with captions and understanding, I like that.
However the graphics in this game are enough for me to say - Hell no.

GoldenEye for the N64 looked better and I don't like the fact that you have to "time" your melee attacks in order to maintain successful hits.

I apologize. I miss-spoke in the review and will fix it. You don't have to time it to maintain a successful hit. You will hit your target when you swing at it unless they move. But timing is good to get the first hit on your opponent and to successfully block their attacks.
