    Default Linux OS

Linux, where can I find that OS?
Do I pay for that? or is it one of those Freeware OS's?
Anyway you guys, I used Kapersky so far and its not a good idea to have... it messed my computer up badly.... like registry errors while installing the software and it took up all the performance from my computer resulting in an endless boot... (I think Win XP SP3 installed itself) <-- another question I'll post into the computer forum. . .

I'LL STICK WITH AVG for now.... and look for a better anti-virus (shareware that i can buy at a store)

Linux is free, and you get its individual Distros. You don't Install "linux" - you install a certain distro.

For example, you can get centos here: www.centos.org - The Community ENTerprise Operating System

And get Fedora here: Fedora Project

And get Debian here: Installing Debian GNU/Linux via the Internet

    Etc...

Yeah, I use linux. I use fedora core 8 on my home server and CentOS 5 on my web servers, including the server GF is on.

before I start installing this, is there like a option where I can make it "look" like Windows? there has to be some customization with this OS

I just moved all the 'linux' posts in another thread - we'll leave the other for anti-virus talk

And before you install it, make sure you don't need the hard drive. It'll replace your current OS if you haven't partitioned it properly for dual booting. Otherwise you can only run one OS per partition (or HDD if you don't have any partitions)

And I'm not sure what you mean by "look like windows" - if you mean it having a start menu, and desktop, it has those but its own versions.

Ubuntu is another linux distribution that you can try. You can get free ubuntu CD delivered to your home (it takes 2-3 weeks though). try htt://www.ubuntulinux.org
