Very interesting to see that the PS2 is still selling over 100k console units considering the original plan was to discontinue it the middle of last year! Maybe thats why they removed the compatibilty from the PS3?

They removed compatability from ps3 to allow them to lower the price.

but I find it funny that people are still buying PS2s. Even gamestop is starting to shift them out.

well i don't have a ps2 and my brother was considering getting one.
it is a really good console and I like the games on it.

I suppose its no different to the PS1 - New console were still being sold up untill late 2004 and was only discontinued with the launch of the slimline PS2. So that was 4 years after the launch of the PS2, so if history repeats itself then this year should be the last year of new PS2 units being sold.

Interestingly there is still a huge pre-owned demand for PS1,PSX & PSone although there are not too many PS1 & PSX consoles still working but the PSone pre-owned is still going strong!!

man, I hope they would sell enough for this year.... I still have my ps2, and its still running strong, wish I had the slimline one whereas I'm stuck with the Fat ps2... need to get that slimline one before its gone... forever...

I have a PS1 with its own screen, I actually have a car adapter as well for long road trips... =P

So yeah I still see the appeal of owning it, and the PS2 is even better.

Well there's always people new to the video game industry. If a kid asks to get into gaming of course a parents going to buy a 99 PS2 and hand full of cheap used games from Gamespot.

Yeah Sony is screwing up with PS3, word is stock is going to be tight till maybe May
