EA Announces Battlefield Play-For-Free
A has officially announced Battlefield Play4Free, an upcoming online shooter from the creators of Battlefield Heroes. With maps and vehicles from Battlefield 2, and the weapons, equipment, factions, and classes of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, this free-to-play shooter will allow gamers to participate in online battles of up to 32 players.
More than a simple FPS death-match, EA is also promising that the game will actually let you 'experience the career of a professional soldier.'
Battlefield Play4Free won't officially launch until Autumn next year, but EA is already taking applications for the upcoming beta test of a game that EA's Ben Cousins is predicting could shake the world of FPS gaming to its foundations.
At what point do the hardcore gamers switch over from spending $60 a month on console games to spending that much a month on microtransactions for an online title?
There's an opportunity in the next two to five years to cause a significant disruption to the traditional triple-A console market. I want someone considering buying a game on a Microsoft console to think 'But these games are free over here.'
I suggest you guys visit the link to watch the trailer:
