    Exclamation New computer build

so here's the computer build, probably might have to find cheaper parts on newegg, so what do you think?

    here's the case

    the RAM

    the Hard Drive

    the CD burner

the power supply is standard 500watts. I think its 'Antec' (the brand)

the processor: AMD AM3 Phenom II X4 955 3.2 Ghz 8MB Cache Processor

the Operating System: windows 7. (but its like $199 for the home edition!) I think I might have to use Win XP, cause I still have the cd from when I bought the computer... (sigh)

the motherboard I'll get at a local store, which has a combo deal together with the processor of your choice -- its pretty good, but expensive, so I'll get this first, then the other parts little at a time, if I get it all at once, it totals to nearly $1000. which is why i'm getting them one by one, or if i have enough for some parts.

I'll put some pictures in this thread later on, hopefully today.

opinions please computer guru's I summon you! (no flaming, rude comments, just opinions or help. moderators, help me out)

Nice set up. I don't know about the case though, only has one fan and one side vent. If you plan to use it for gaming or even keep the PC on a lot, I'd recommend getting a case with some more cooling.

Might not be a problem for you though.

I didn't get to check out all the specs and stuff of the parts you posted with links because I have to go out, but I'll revisit the thread later and see if I have anything else to say.

Looks good to me. Like Linux said, only thing that could possibly cause any problems is the case.

thanks linux! um... about the case, I think you're right, but its already way too late, I bought it already so.... cause it was cheap! but yeah I'm not gonna be on it 24/7 all the time, just use it for gaming, photoshop, auto-cad (program), and maybe even studio production.
also, if there happened to be a problem, isn't there a way to install a 2nd fan? cause I read reviews on the site, maybe there is...? I'm not going to keep it ON all the time... I dont know why my friends do it all the time too.. leave the computer on, that adds up to the power bill & gets really expensive, and please do, cause.... at the moment, I got the case, power supply, motherboard, and processor. a photo will be posted soon

If the case allows it then you can install extra fans. My server at home for example, came with just one fan, but I bought a second 120mm fan for the side panel.

But you'll have to look at the case when you get it to see if there is space for it.

yeah, I went to check on it, there is a slot for another case, actually 3.
one is the default in the back, came with the case, and one on the side panel, and another in the front. but it looks impossible to get to, cause it looks like its WELDED on there. so... I think I'll add just another fan.

um, GOOD NEWS though, I managed to put the motherboard on there, processor, and power supply on there. all I need left is:

    RAM

    CD BURNER DRIVE

    HARD DRIVE

    VIDEO CARD

    and

    OPERATING SYSTEM

its real tough looking for a cheap version of Windows 7. my friends say they got it for free, but... it was all pirated. I'd rather not go that route. I would show a photo, but I'd wait until its all complete.

If you're a student, you should be able to get a discounted version.

I received a copy of Win7 for free through my college 2 years ago like that.

yeah.... but sadly, I'm not currently registered with any school... its sad! I even asked my friends for the copy, but.... they said its 'stealing'. I thought it was 'sharing'. either way, I'm still going to spend $200 for this Operating System (home edition). I really dont feel like installing WinXP on this new machine.

yeah, this is gonna be my 1st computer build ever... I dont know, I just picked the parts due to good reviews from NewEgg. but... I'm just barely learning how to do it... it was pretty simple to do, but I KNOW it will get complex later on, once all the parts are in the case..

I think I might make a separate thread based off of RAM, I dont know what kind of RAM to get for my motherboard....

    *UPDATE
    9/5/11

I finally got the dvd burner and hard drive (500gb), all I need left is the RAM and the operating system.

    *another update
    9/7/11
I got a keyboard with mouse combo! what sucks is that it cost me almost $40. I had a debate whether if I wanted to go wireless or stick with a OEM of microsoft's products (which was WIRED).

I think I might have to go to the store again & get that WIRELESS one cause .... dang, wired is expensive. I should have ordered ONLINE. dang it. so.... yeah, I got a keyboard, but not keeping it.... gonna get that wireless combo one.

    *UPDATE! FINAL!
    9/11/11
I finally got myself a better keyboard/mouse combo & a monitor! its complete! finally! about almost $900 total went to this computer. thats less than 1k. not so bad

but whats missing is a VIDEO CARD. and an optional case fan. for a cheaper alternative, I think I might have to purchase another case fan, cause having an AMD processor, thats quad core? (I think) Phenom II is the model. must require efficient cooling. I could go with liquid cooling, but they only got the standard one, so, I guess another case fan would help. cause this case supports 3 total, but 1 is a default. so.. its SEMI complete. I just gotta install the OS & hook up EVERYTHING to it. get it setup, and have updates on it... this is gonna take a while.. I hope this process goes by REAL fast.... cause its a NEWLY BUILT PC.

    *UPDATE 9/14/11

the setup is complete. I installed OS win7 into this custom built pc, and now everything runs smooth. well, REAL fast to my liking due to the specs. now I gotta install drivers for everything... and all should be good! whats missing is the internet... which I might have to find a specialist about this lan cable business. or is there such thing as a switch in the house...? like a lan cable to ethernet port, that way i wont have to drill holes in the wall/floor (I made a thread about lan cables)
