Default Fox to pay 400 million Avatar 2 and 3

Marking the first slate financing arrangement to close since the financial meltdown of 2008, 20th Century Fox has made a deal for just north of $400 million to help fund nearly all its films over the next five years, including the next two "Avatar" pics, multiple sources have confirmed to Variety.

Financial guru Chip Seelig brought the coin to Fox, and it's not the first time he's raised a sizeable amount of money for the studio, either: The pair have a relationship dating back to 2005, when Seelig arranged a $400 million slate deal as a then-partner of financial firm Dune Capital Management. Seelig left Dune about 18 months ago to start new funding ventures.

A lot of money invested but seeing how big Avatar did(still crazy) I dont think they mind this investment

Just looked up the gross earnings for Avatar. For Domestic it's $760,507,625. So 400 millions is a small amount considering the other two moves make close to the first one.

2.782 billion WW total for Avatar

Of course there tons of break downs for domestic that they dont get all those dollars or all the world wide dollrs, But Ive never seen anyone give out accurate info. So bunch of guesses and lies. But needless regardless Avatar 1 smashed records, so investing this money is a drop in a bucket.

I mean it was cool to look at, but it wasn't THAT great of a movie. That's a chunk of change!
