Exactly why I feel this was not for the money, and more for awareness.

Sure it was mostly for awareness, but it would of been more effective giving it away for free. Or instead of wasting resources, used recycled goods to get the point across.

After re-reading the OP, it does seem like a portion will go to charity.

Alright, then I see nothing wrong with seling them, it is most likely the profit going to charity, and the rest going to make the cans.
