The Madden Curse

It has been said that every athlete that appears on the cover of "Madden NFL" has something bad happen to them in the following months and years. So far, it has been true since 2001. In 2001, Eddie George was on the cover. The following seasons, injuries and bad games would lead to his retirement. In 2002, Daunte Culpepper graced the cover, and 4 years later, he would be traded and not be able to play for the rest of the season. Marshall Faulk, in 2003, also had a case of injuries that led to his retirement. Michael Vick recently had an altercation with fans in Atlanta, after putting up the middle finger to booing fans. He was on the cover in 2004's edition of "Madden". Ray Lewis seemed like he would break the curse in 2005, but he also became injured earlier this season. Donovan McNabb also is injured this season, after being on 2006's cover. Finally, Shaun Alexander, who is on the cover of "Madden 07", recently came back to playing from an injury. So, this leaves me to ask a question...Is the "curse" real, or is it just a media spectacle? What do you think?

I think its coincidence but it is a pretty crazy one. Every year people say lets just wait til next year when its broken and we will forget about it but the thing is it still hasn't been broken after all these years. Definitely interesting...

well that wont be fair lol, unless that player is hot for 2 seasons lol

I think they determine who gets on the cover by one of two options:

1. Popularity during the season (be it by fans or by the media)

2. Stats (probably league leaders or MVPs or something)

Yeah, so it could be possible to get on the cover twice...But I doubt it, it's rare.
