Metal Gear Solid 4: Alert! ....ZzZzZz..
Introduction-
When I first played Metal Gear Solid 4
The first thing I noticed was the graphics and the Intensity, as soon as you gain control you are pretty much forced to crawl under a truck to get cover from the thousands of bullets flying. From then on the Intensity never stopped, except for when you’re watching the hour long cut scenes but even those are entertaining to watch. See if it’s a Movie with Interaction or a game with Cinematic, below.
Story-
The Story is very good but it’s like picking up the last 200 pages of a very good book and reading it. Unless you’ve played at least one of the main Previous 3 games you will be somewhat lost. I do give credit to them for Making a MGS Database which will tell you everything about the MGS Universe all the way back to the NES Games and it’s free to download from the Playstation Store. That’s what I did, I played 1, 2 but vaguely Remembered the story so it helped me out immensely. But overall the Story is great, not a lot of twists but it’s the Last Chapter of the story it’s not meant to have Twists.
In the end whether you know nothing about MGS or know everything you will find this Story interesting.
Graphics-
The Graphics in this game are Awesome, enough said.
By far the best game out right now as far as graphics.
Some of the Cut scenes are so brilliantly planned you’ll think your watching a movie, with Fight scenes exceeding 10 min you’ll have a few Whoa moments for sure.
Blend in..Blend in!
Gameplay-
The Game play area is so huge, we’ll see if I can cover it all.
First of All if any of you played the previous games and thought they were hard.
They made a new Difficulty Called “Naked Snake” that I didn’t die once on.
First we’ll go with Un-lockable, there is tons of Secrets you can find and things you can do to make you want to play over and over, the Re-play value of this game is amazing.
From a Camo Mask that makes enemies Run away to Altair’s Outfit from Assassin Creed. There’s even Music you can find for your “in game Ipod” that helps your Stress and psyche level while playing.
Now for overall Gameplay you can Either Rush in killing everybody or Crawl and sneak, there is Multiple Routes you can Take usually in these categories; Upper Route, Mid Route, Lower Route or the Around Route(Going Around the Danger Areas) as far as Guns Go there is pretty much an unlimited supply of Guns and Customizations that can be done to those guns, Ex. Laser Pointer or Handle(steadies your aim) you can also get ANY Explosive you might want or even Porn to grab the Soldiers attention.
There’s also many ways you can kill an Enemy, you can use CQC(close quarter Combat) Depending on your Weapon CQC is Different, with your Stun knife you can go up behind them and Slit their Throat or Face plant them into the ground knocking them out. Another scenario is, hang from a ledge and wait for them to go under you and reach down and grab them cutting their throat. One of the Main things in this game is your Camo which will Change to your environment and help you from being seen by soldiers, crawl on the ground and it will change to the Grounds texture, Press against the Wall and it will change to the Walls Texture. Yup plenty of beautifully crafted gadgets at your disposal. A little Robot you can control and scope out the map an Eye Patch like thing that can go Night vision Zoom in or help you locate Items and enemies behind walls, and more.
There’s two ways you can do things in this game, Lethal/Non-Lethal. Which pretty much means Kill or Knock them out. If you beat the Bosses Non-lethal you get certain Items but as you can guess it’s a little harder to do. The bosses in this game are very Intense and Epic and will require you to use Different items to take them down, most of the time very hard to find and like to sneak up on you, which makes it even more intense.
Sound-
The Sounds in this game are great you will hear every Gun fired, dieing scream, cry in the entire area the Music is not really noticeable unless you Turn your ipod on and play music which is pretty cool, you can download more music for your ipod or find Songs in the game lying around. The voice acting is movie quality you will feel like your watching a movie A LOT.
BOOM!
Thoughts-
This is one of those Games that you just CAN’T do everything in one play through
One of my biggest problems was lack of melee Weapons, you only get one, the “stun knife” I just wanted a Katana, that’s all I ask for.
Cut scenes are Long…
Buy/Rent-
Buy it it’s worth every penny.
Especially if you like MGO “Metal Gear Online” you can do pretty much anything you could do in the game on MGO.
Score-9/10

Sounds good.
I'm waiting for it to come out on the 360, so I'll buy it in December/April.

I thought it was established that it wasn't coming out on 360..?
I get more confused everyday.
Anyways, great review.
The game looks awesome :]

He thinks it will, but it won't.
They already said that they won't.... Here it is...
However, in response to this, a Konami representative has flat out stated that
"For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game."
Read the quote. Study the quote. Remember the quote. It's a pretty clear statement

That's what I thought.
Thanks for clearing it up.
