Default Dubai company plans on building 1km tall building

It will be more than 1km high, have 150 lifts and will take over 10 years to construct, say the developers of what could become the world's tallest building.

The Islamic design-inspired Nakheel Tower will be the centre piece of a multi-billion pound inner-city harbour development in Dubai.

Its makers claim it will be so tall that the tower will experience five different microclimatic conditions above its height.

And high speed shuttle lifts will mean people will be able to see the sunset twice - from the bottom and again from the top of the building.

Nakheel - the company that created man-made islands in the shapes of a palm tree and the world - is behind the build.
    I said WOW!

I think this is a bad idea, it might be targeted by terrorists for all we know =/

I think it would be funny that, if on the day it finished, it started to sink into the sand.
    That would be hilarious.

Because they have billions of dollars from oil money and really nothing to do with it, that's why they're building all this stuff.

It would be pretty sweet, but I'm seeing a repeat of 9/11 if it will be built.

If this was being built in USA I could see it but this is being built in an area where Muslim religion is dominant religion and I really doubt they have any fears of that happening considering Burj Dubai is already the tallest building in the world and still being constructed

lol..what a way to waste money, better than driving your ferrari to london for an oil change...lol

but it'll be a challenge, especially if it gets gusty, they have to make it strong enough to withstand a lot of wind pressure on it - i think they built something in thailand or malaysia (not sure where exactly) where there is a big rectangular whole on top to let the wind pass and to lower wind resistance
