This prejudice explodes when Thao, the teenage son of the Hmong family next door, tries to steal his mint condition 1972 Grand Torino car. Thao was pressured by an Asian gang to steal the car as an initiation rite. To regain the family's honor, Thao is forced to work for Walt. Walt begins to protect Thao from the gangs and soon he becomes a target.

    Review:
I have to say, the trailers for this movie didn't really interest me and I was pretty reluctant to go see it with my boyfriend. Well, I'm glad he dragged me in there, because Gran Torino has to be one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Don't be fooled by the trailer you see on TV, the storyline is pretty different than what they lead you to believe. Clint Eastwood is a remarkable actor, I can hardly believe he directed and produced this film too. He really brings life to his character. Walt is an angry, pessimistic, sarcastic, bigoted old man who lives by himself and refuses to have anyone help him. The conflicts he has with the people around him range from funny, to tense, and even heartwarming. I didn't expect it, but I cried at the end. The only thing I didn't like were some of the people that were casted to play Eastwood's neighbors. It's not that their acting wasn't good, it just doesn't compare to Eastwood's and it's pretty apparent on the screen. Well, I really recommend you see this movie, it was worth the ten dollar ticket.
