Ice Cream Controversy
I was driving to class this morning when I heard one of the craziest stories on the radio. A Ben and Jerry's ice cream store came out with a new type of ice cream, "Taste the Linsanity", named after Jeremy Lin, NBA basketball player for the New York Knicks. This new ice cream contained crumbled bits of fortune cookies. Long story short, somebody claimed it was racist to have fortune cookie pieces on ice cream named after an Asian basketball player. Ben and Jerry's was forced to remove the fortune cookie bits from the ice cream. I'm curious to see how everyone feels on this situation. I can see how fortune cookies are usually associated with Asians, but was it necessary to remove them from the ice cream?
