Make sure the resolution in the game is supported by your monitor.

This is a good idea... it's definitely an issue with your graphics card/drivers/settings. Try changing your in game settings (lowering them, if possible.) Try installing new graphic drivers, although this is much less likely the issue. As Jacob's ghost said, try searching google... that will be more revealing than anything.
