a huge update was released to this game that has changed things and might change my opinions about the game DRAMATICALLY -

(1) the game is now free to play up to the level cap, level 50. You can play the whole game for free now! It just became a lot more "worth it" to try and cause if you get hooked you can still play without paying...

(2) one of my biggest complaints was that the pursuits weren't multiplayer. They just released a new game mode, team pursuits:

New Game Mode: "Team Escape"
When it comes to feature requests from the community there are two really clear areas of the game people ask us to deliver on. The first of these are game modes where gamers to race together against the cops so we're introducing a new mode called "Team Escape". We're going to be talking about this in much greater detail shortly but if you want to check out an early version of the mode take a look at this recorded during our Community Event at Gamescom.

It's still a rather watered down racing mechanic and the latency issues in races (I'd imagine) still persist, but these couple changes do almost make we want to give it another shot and see how fun it is getting into team pursuits
